When I looked at their web site, I thought of iWin...

I am also wonderind did they really acquire rights to the Amiga brand or is it a hoax. Amiga Inc being absent it is difficult to find out... CommodoreUSA website is little amateurish (blurry images and dull layout) but IWin had certain details revealing it was a fake. So far I couldnt find anything like that from the CommodoreUSA website.

And besides, if it's fake, why would Hyperion threaten with legal actions?

The Commodore USA's web page seems to be down

Commodore USA

One can only hope they're doing much needed upgrades

P.S. Nah... ignore that, seems OK and no upgrade

@SHADES

I think it is interesting that the CTO Commodore USA, LLC responded with the popcorn smilie.

Smells to me like yet another HOAX.

Either way i dont see how people can take them seriously. Even the stolen images arent scaled properly, so how can anyone expect them to pull this off when they cant even design a simple website.

I would never ever buy anything from a company that looks so unprofessional even if it wasnt a hoax.

Speaking of stolen images can you recognize MorphOS cubes?

For example? I mean, a *lot* of people (inc some Amiga magazines IIRC) were convinced they were for real at the time, and they managed to string people along for quite a while. As I recall, the hints that it was a fake took time (and occasionally some actual journalistic investigation) to accumulate.

Maybe this is a "certain detail"? Quote:

Because if someone *acts* as if they own something of yours, you *have* to treat them seriously, or you may well end up loosing it anyway, whether they are for real or not. Trademarks are lost if you don't defend them. Plus some people like to try things on, and see if they can get away with it (and if they did then maybe they'd try selling their "rights" to the name later!).

Just install AROS on your preferred x86 PC and live happy ... you don't need any Commodore company or any "Amiga" name/logos for this ...

Why not? I do... And I want one of those ... actually i will buy min 2 of them!
Do you know why?

Because I can run triple boot there... AROS, WIN 7, OSX....
Because it looks like Amiga...
Because AROS will now develop at the speed of light...
Because the community will grow by each day... not as now.... eventualy 1 per month...
Because it has actual x86 hardware inside.... (you even know a cpu that will be inside!)
Because this is the real reboot after a decade of guruu messages!
C= will grow bigger and bigger after the frist fantasy Amiga is released....

2 days ago you were telling that C= USA is eventualy lying about the Amiga name
license... Read your posts now...

This is the biggest and positive step forward for the Amiga as a computer after
the old C= died... Amiga has more perspective with x86 to get a HiQ aplications
ported on AROS..professional applications for HD Video montage, professional
Audio applications, not Deli Trackers, Pro Trackers , Octameds and Audio Evolutions,
we are talking about big fish here... Avid/Digidesign/Steinberg/Adobe...

As always...

Amiga Forever.... Intel Outside...
It sems that we have a , Intel Inside now! ;)))))))

Yepiiiieeeeeeeeeeeee!

My opinion doesn't change even if you troll for the next 5 years, this is an hoax and maybe people behind this new C= are liars and cheats

This is the kind of comments i don't fully understand and even find quite ridiculous given your posting history... what's stopped you from using AROS until today?

Nothing... but having it in a branded Amiga Case with C= logo beside... +top hardware,
and multiple OS boot makes it my ideal computer!

Do you have anything against it?

So the big software boys are going to trip over each other to port their apps for an OS with a 3-digit userbase, just because it runs on a PC made by some lone wolf who puts stickers on it calling it Amiga?

Right.

So what you like is the only the name? so you will be happy if Microsoft buys the name and rebrand Windows ME as AmigaOS and put it on an rebranded HP i7 computer and sell to you as Amiga 7000?

In my personal opinion, no it isn't.

The real Amigas were the A500,A1200,etc... line by Commodore and Escom in the 80's/90's. Everything that came after that were just attempts to capitalize on what was a revolutionary product. Nothing wrong with that per se. Some of those attempts were honest, others not so much, but no one was able to do it properly.

But that's just my point of view.

Note that I also love the idea of a Fantasy case with Amiga engraved in it and all that. I'll buy that today too. It's just the way that these folks are going ahead with this that seems very shady so far...
