Yeah, it is probably the usb stick. If someone has a usb hdd and may report tranfer rates that would be nice though. Most (cheap) sticks are indeed rather slow.

| Update:
I restored the MUI drawer from my Update 2 CD and everything is working now, IBrowse, Yam, MUI app, Sabremsn etc. so it's definitely a MUI issue with some configs.

Downloaded the update in OWB, during installing I got a Grim Reaper on the minigl.library. But no error from the installation programm.
Ater the installation and the reboot, Blender, Dopus and GfxBench2D are running fine. No problems so far. My Sandisk is not recognized (also not under update2), but maybe this is an U3 system issue (?) Last edited by bennymee on 29-Aug-2011 at 10:22 PM.

It's more MUI apps that were failing for me and Voodoo, seems MUI update broke a lot of apps on our machines. I've gone back to update 2 for now. |

That sounds as if only USB 1.1 is used (12 Mbit/s, which equal to ~1,5 MByte/s)._________________ This signature is in the middle of a much needed facelift! |

I am taking a pounding after installing the update. I am going to do a clean install from update 1 then 2 then 3.

| I recommend that people register with the Hyperion Entertainment Message boards for support on the AmigaOS4.1 Update 3 release.

I was about to post the same thing. These issues are likely to quickly get buried in a long thread like this, so it's better to create a dedicated thread on the official support forum. After all, that's what it's there for.

| Hats off to the developers for a fine update!
My computer still boots, my scroll wheel still works, my MIDI setup carried over without a hitch, and the program I was busy writing has no more apparent bugs than it did this morning.
Oddly, I had edited the user-startup to launch the clock on my workbench screen, and that is now broken..? If that's as bad as it gets, I'm in really good shape!
Sadly, the USB 2.0 PCI card I had in standby is not the "right stuff".. NewEgg will provide the solution.
Great job on the update, and thanks to the Team.

| these usb transfer speeds look definitely like usb1.1, i wonder what transfer speeds have you got before if this is an improvement. i can have up to about 5-6 mb/s on my 68k a4k/deneb setup and it is generally zorro3 limitation, so i dont believe this should be the case with genuinely pci/usb equipped machines. |

| @all
Just a couple of reminders:
1) Update 3 is intended to be installed over a clean Update 2 installation. If you install it over an Update 1 system, the results are not defined. If you have a heavily modified Update 2 installation, then you ought to start afresh with a clean Update 1, upgrade that to Update 2, install Update 3 over that, then install all your custom stuff. The install script will back up your Prefs and Kicklayout files, but not much more.
2) USB on all AmigaOnes (SEs, XEs and µA1s) is only USB 1.1. You can only get EHCI on a Sam (440/flex/460) or an X1000 (unless you add a USB 2 card).
3) The libz.so (etc) are not files, they are links to other files in the SOBJS: drawer. You don't have to copy old links or files, there is nothing missing. The install script will make the links for you. Install it properly and you won't have a problem with missing links.
4) Read the ReadMe. Follow the instructions. I know you're all impatient, but you can make a mistake if you rush it.
5) The devs and betatesters will not be answering questions here. Go to the support forum for help.

Everything working fine here. Improvments are most obvious.
I transfer a 70.3MB file from a SanDisk Cruser Stick (msdos FAT12) to RAM in just over 9 seconds. That is at least 7.5MB, that is Bytes, per second, and that is on a 440ep non GHz computer. Not bad at all.
The only logged USB errors occur during initialization. None after stack is full booted.
Many things just work better, smoother.
Good job, well done.

| Is it new to be able to hold shift and drag any public screen wherever you want, instead of just down? You can drag up/left/right now. |
