I'm still waiting for my email from Amigakit, paid my 25% deposit, but then I think I might of been one of the last people to get their order in before they sold out.

You know what I was so close to not getting one, mainly because of the cost, but I'm so glad I did now, as I would of been really annoyed with myself for missing out, so i do feel sorry for you guys who missed out, hopefully there will be a second run.

for now lets keep this party going

but my 9250 runs it. A cheap 128MB slow PCI card, I was not impressed with the benchmark time with that card & I won't post it

well...
The benchmark rednder time wasnt affected from the gfx card slownes...so you can do the render test without problems :)

PS I think that X1000 PA6T cpu have to be around 3x faster than G4@1000 on single core on blender, ffmpeg, lame tests...

@amigang

I also paid my deposit recently and like yourself I suspect was at the end of the queue of people who ordered before they sold out so I guess I have to wait.

Would be nice if there was some update From Amigakit so we know the order is proceeding and expected timeline! I assume this timeline is the usual

I guess patience is a virtue...still can't wait to get it though!

@Epsilon

Please refer to our previous emails.

We will inform you 10 days before despatch as we stated on our previous email this month. Every order that is currently being quality tested and imminent for despatch has had another email from us.

All First Contact customers have been contacted to tell them that they successfully have been allocated a system. If anyone drops out of the process we will offer the system to the next in line by the timeline of orders received.

@amigakit

I just checked all my previous emails again and found the 10 days reference. Sorry about that.

Thanks for explaining the process of allocating X1000 systems and communication plans.

Anyway, no problem and not intending to stir up trouble. I appreciate the clarification - all clear now.

I might be asking the obvious here - but what resolution can your monitor display?

I'm at work now so can't check - but I get a much higher res when I plug in my Win7 laptop into the same screen - so I know it can go higher but you are right - I should check as to just how much higher.

Static benchmarks are nice and serve their purpose but real world application tests are where it is at. If you find the time could you post results of Blender's speed as discussed

Ran out of time for that last night. Other problem is that this is the week we have been put on a generator as the local power company has to replace a load of power lines in our locality. Won't be finished until Wednesday. It trips out at random intervals cutting the power to the house and is getting really annoying. Typical this is done the week I get my Amiga!

anyway I guess it's difficult to see X1000's performance until AmigaOS doesn't get SMP and new 3D; and still it will lack 64 bit support to really use X1000's potential at 100%.

Surely, everything is just a preview until then.

@SAM

Don`t bother the good betatesters with such violating NDA questions. They are not allowed to answer, and they can`t, cause they just test things. WHAT and WHEN something will go out is up to Hyperion.

Patience ... like believers wait
patiently

So the rest of us (assuming I don't actually have an e-mail waiting for me at home today) that was promised in december to be contacted later should just expect silence then?

Is that a good business strategy? I'll have to wait and see then I guess...

@Deniil715

We will contact anyone unsuccessful once all systems are paid for and ready for despatch. In the meantime, if anyone drops out, we will offer a system to the next customer in line and so on.

If you have not heard from us at this point, you did not make it into the initial batch, but there is still some provision if someone drops out of the initial batch.

Please re-read the email we sent to you:

Well, for PowerUp cards i thought the same back in the day. Unfortunately it took about 8 years until they were fully utilized (MorphOS 1.4.5 release for those cards). And then those cards were heavily outdated.

I learned my lesson: Better compare what's there here and now and talk less about hypothetical future things.
