Nothing strange at all. It's intentional. If any X1000 owners wish to discuss it feel free to pop over to the official support forum.

stream scores quite well on x1k, as comparison the result on my current 2.93ghz i7 is in the similar range:

how do I get 1920x1080?

for this you have to get a monitor that support it

next you will have to set the tooltypes in your monitor's icon in devs:monitors/ and modify it to reflect the maximum capacities of your monitor (frequencies, refresh rate, screenmode resolution... look in the monitor's manual fo this datas)

and don't forget to register in the Hyperion forum here for all questions or bug report you can have about your X1000

True, but some of them need it for another machine or don`t have it.
OK, who has got X1000 and Radeon 9200 please do test Blender

IMHO, if someone says "SMP coming soon", you should say "we don't know when SMP is coming", rather than saying "SMP is super duper hard, so it is definitely not coming soon" (for which you have no evidence).

In short: I never said SMP (other core use) is coming soon, but I said "when it comes". Why do I believe there will be any:
a) Because Hyperion did announced it
b) Because X1000 features dual core CPU. If they meant to be single core for ever, they would pick some cheaper single core chip reducing investment and overall user price cost.

Tech side: I am not a AmigaOS developer, but to my understanding, if nothing else works, OS4 app that could crash the system could be sandboxed (virtualized to some box making it feel like there is just one core while overall OS could be overhaulled just to schedule CPU commitment between sandboxes. Also, I believe that similar approach could be made possible by so called A/Box sandboxing.

Negative criticism: even I do deeply respect achievements of MOS that are better then OS4, just because MOS team decided not to do it (e.g. MOS for dual core G5 or X1000) doesn`t mean its impossible. Somewhere Hyperion stated OS4 was developed with knowledge dual processing will come one day, even dual G4 system was used provided for testing at some point. Some other opportunity mentioned was that other core could be used to run Linux sandboxed, if understood from OS4, which would eliminate need to dual boot to use Iceweasel or OpenOffice. Even that would be great.
It might not be real SMP, some other solution, but NEVER is too strong word.

In testing, working so hard to prove MOS can run on faster system (overclocked G4) when knowing that current PVR test is single core only and doesn`t provide full pic of CPU ablity. Even if next RageMem or test could independently test other core and include it in overall MIPS/CPU results would be great. We all know by simple tech side PVR is closer to G5 and thus way better then G4. We just haven`t possibility to test it first hand with very preliminary OS4 tools that maybe need an update, on earliest OS4 that work on X1000 using single core. That is reality check.

MOS of course needs not to do it as there is no dual core system it works on.

That is why my joke was "port MOS to X1000 so we can moan it doesn`t use dual core" - that kind of "walk in our shoes" funny line.

Peace n love!

Yes, my friend, you are quite right, they would loose the warranty,
but Amiga users are used to opening their machines

What are you on about? Blender uses minigl for GUI only so can render without it, in command line mode only ofcourse.

The particuler demo / benchmark that was refered to has GUI elements to it so *will* suffer will wazp3d but the rendering aspects won't.

The particular benchmark in that thread (wherevere it is lost the link) needs the GUI but to run blender with no gui do

bldyn -b someblendfile.blend -o someplace/to/put/the/result.jpg -F JPEG -f 0

For example on my SAM-Flex 733MHz

5.AmigaOS4:> av:blender/bldyn -b av:blender/projects/bricks_and_water_plugin.blend -o ram:pool -F JPEG -f 0
Blender is here av:blender/bldyn
Initialised blenderpluginapi.library
Compiled with Python version 2.5.5.
Checking for installed Python... got it!

Thanks fot the correction. From user perspective you need 3D to open Blender without gurus. However, yes, that could be nice test. Hope that resolution change and Wazp3d will do the magic and we will have the test result to present.

So far 1Ghz G4 did about Athlon XP 1.8Ghz, 800Mhz G4 like Athlon XP 1.4Ghz, AMCC 800Mhz like Atom 1.6Ghz
So have high expectations of Blender on PWR!

Shouldn't get an Grim Reapers let alone gurus, you just get a failed to create context error, and a clean exit.

BTW you will still see that error on the command line version, but it continues anyway.

@-Sam-

I was hoping to start my evening by reading your expericence of the day with your X1000... unfortunately, someone has said something causing this thread to explode beyond recognition...

So, how's the machine in everyday Amiga-use doing?

Nope. It's facts as I was hoping to read about -Sam- 's experience.

Ah... already regret answering this...
