Fine, I'll ask if I need to. Also, I'm heartened by Rob's post that Trevor has attended a German Gamescom to promote the OS4 machines.
Thank you and others for realigning my expectations; I'm resigned to the fact that the Tabor will limp out of the stables "when it's done" and those that have done their research, weighed up the shortcomings / benefits in relation to the apps they wish to use will buy it and the ex-A500/A1200 type users will shrug and buy something like the PS5 / RPi / Alienware PC etc where the machine IS sold / marketed to the user in some way even if its a RPi hobbiest magazine they see in WHSmith.
It's just sad is all that a bigger splash is never possible for AmigaOne machines. The X1000 DID achieve that burst of initial enthusiasm from the wider retro scene and it's sad this can't be rebottled in order to push this much more reasonably priced product. Finished. now I am a little disappointed
you were always praising both Hyperion and a-eon as the only future and you will 100% buy OS4 hardware as soon something is available and now people have to persuade you

I do not understand the discussions anyway
People who want to buy OS4 hardware should do that
It is not "sane" or "sensible" and will never be... just a hobby |

BigD I do not understand what you are discussing about
You were always talking about "showing support" because OS4 is "the only future"
Tabor is the only realistic option to get affordable hardware running OS4 in foreseeable future. So if everything you said in the past was not only empty talk without any meaning you have to buy Tabor |

If I one person buys one board it makes little difference. If A-EON capture the old Amiga magic, bundle it with the right software and make it attractive to even a thousand ex-Amiga users from the 90s then this will become sustainable beyond Trevor.
And no, the Tabor is not available to anyone other than Early Adopters this year due to delays IMHO and most probably won't have a complete low volume production run for us great unwashed until 2021.Last edited by BigD on 24-Apr-2020 at 02:50 PM. Sorry I bet with you that even when there is a official production run 2021 you will not buy Tabor
I am already excited to read why you cannot buy it ;)
i can already give you some tips:
f.e. price of official tabor is too high drivers are missing ...

for no misunderstanding
I have no problem with it (or anyone else has). It is everyones decision for what he spends his money, But then you should not always go in first line and be the biggest OS4 fan... that harms credibility Last edited by OlafS25 on 24-Apr-2020 at 03:09 PM.

I think people want more what can do in 90’s, and I think need to start looking outwards before ex-Amigas start dying of old age.
Sure tiny market of ex-amiga users, I there is stuff we can do if we pull together, most of the software need to be updated to support large files, ARGB graphic formats, 3D and modern file format, and it’s a lot of work.

the urge to port all sort of 68k software to NG is silly anyway... if you buy sources of 68k software than keep it 68k and improve it so amiga users might be interested to buy it
Or create something new and modern from scratch if you have the money |

Well, maybe, but... we're not living in normal times. The only thing "normal" right now is the lawsuit between various Amiga parties. _________________ "Unix is supposed to fix that." -- Jay Miner |

Amiga is hobby and people who's hobby it is buy those machines.
Problem is those who are delusional enough dreaming some kind of "come back" for Amiga OS.
Amiga OS4 is very nice and suit very well my purpose. I use it as a web machine on my hobby lair. Netsurf is all I need, it is not a general purpose computer.

The deal for EA customers is they get their boards first and at a discounted price. There is nothing stopping A-EON from having more than 100 boards produced and it makes sense to spread factory set up costs over a larger production run. |

Bingo.
All of this apologist prattle about having to pay more for a hobby and accept limitations is pure bunk.
Even with all of the resources and money in the world, the IP is caught in this protracted and stupid legal battle. If you want something Amiga-official you are SOL.
Meanwhile... Ben Hermans has apparently been promoted to tech deity at his law firm.

| @ne_one: I have to admit: You are right. Without it this legal battles there would be more money for paying developers etc.
BUT: From what I knew from Ben Hermans (I interviewed him for Amiga Future), hi is not a bad person. Period. Not everything that goes bad in the Amiga-world is under his influence.

So why has he adopted legal threats as his sole business model?

How does that old adage go? "When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail." Lawyers gonna law, in other words -- they don't know anything else. |

| @Trixie: Ask him. But no lawyer does anything without an assignment. So why don't we ask the other party-members (AmigaInc., Cloanto, Hyperion) why they do it? I would say that's another discussion.
