@OlafS25

Think again. Apart from some loans taken out during the litigation with Amiga Inc., all that money has come from Ben Hermans & family (abstraction being made from limited but very welcome income from sales of AmgaOS 4.x copies).

@SlayeR__

There are no imaginary shareholders or investors.

There is "just" Ben Hermans & family. That's it. At one time Evert Carton put in substantial sums as well routing his consultancy business through Hyperion.

Apparently there is some misconception that Trevor is the only Amiga maniac in town.

There's more :)

Without quoting Olaf I really can't tell what money you're talking about.

I sure hope you're not trying to diminish what Evert put into the company.

Indeed they are. Or did you believe that Trevor was the only Amiga "maniac" in town?

one question that comes to my mind just now. if i was an "amiga maniac" by your definition, a guy fluid with hundred thousands if not millions at immediate disposal and willing to support the platform i wouldnt be secretive about it. i understand, talking on forums is maybe not the best way to determine strategies and the like, but still imho its part of the job and a gain for all, to discuss that openly. im trying to figure out, what would i do in your place. dont expect i could gather trusty busiuness adviser group, expect those few people around you who have definitely some amiga experience. but that wouldnt be enough in my eyes. id try to listen to the community, i mean the whole community, not just your hardcore following, because it could still give hints as how to advance towards wider customership. this, even if i was not agreeing in opinions and not going to satisfy them. in turn i would keep the community up to date what is going on, once for credibility reasons (i dont expect there are deals or other details that need to be kept secret, but even if there were, not all would necessarily need to be revealed) but also to better adjust the demand with the development. for example introducing new platform, delays, abandoning it an then reissuing it (as with x1k, i know its trevors part but its just an example) is extremly counter-productive, already because people might not know, how to manage funds in order to be able to buy a device. same applies to system development and supported platforms. that may work for some time with the dedicated group, but will never work with a wider audience whom id like to attract. considering this i must come to the conclusion, you are not trying to address this wider audience. so what are your plans with the platform? what is that return you are waiting for? because i hardly see anything else than trying to sustain a decline, and that not done very well (imho).

At least When Trevor posts here we KNOW that it is him speaking and not the tea lady or janitor...

Heck even Barry Altman wasn't afraid to let it be known it was himself that was speaking...

It would be nice to know who is actually posting using this "Corporate Account", Is it Mr Hermans himself, a member of his family whom we now know are the only shareholders, a developer of AmigaOS or the wee man who works in the mail room...

Still I suppose it's nice to know that whomever may be posting here using the "Corporate Account" is at least an Amiga Maniac, that at least explains a lot of what is said...

So thank you for clarifying that dear "insert company job title or appropriate moniker here"...

@wawa

Who ever said that there would be a "return"? The cost of the Amiga litigation has put that prospect off for many years to come if ever.

Also, please no business advice.

We'll take our advice from people like Trevor, Matthew Leaman, Steven Solie (who came up with the "Hyperion Blog"), Jens S. from Individual, Michael from Cloanto etc. i.e. people and developers who have put their money where their mouth is or have actually contributed significantly to AmigaOS development.

Take a look at Trevor's recent Blog post and the picture he posted from the meeting in Brussels.

Those are the people that Hyperion management relies on for decision making.

And even if you think they are bad decisions, it is our money and we can spend it any way we want, yes, even on AmigaOS development.

What baffles me is that the users on this site has been asking for inputs from hyperion.
When they finally surface the nitpicking starts.

If its a representative of a company then the name isnt that much of an issue.

But i cant see anyone do anything to please the hordes here, the negativity just saps all energy out of this place.

I do agree Trevors blog is good btw.

Then i will thank Ben Hermans and Family for being crazy enough to keep the dream alive, even when i am still on the sideline looking in, i appreciate that they make it possible for the OS to move forward.

@Hyperionmp

i did not say, these people are all wrong and i am not trying to advise (or lecture) you actually, if you assume this. i try to understand you and what you are trying to achieve. which is, what others on this site are probably curious of as well. of course you are free to do with your investments whatever you like, and i wouldnt even dare to question it. you can keep the os4 development all to yourself and not care about the outside world, but id usually be prepared for the same in return. as i said, thats just a consideration, so dont treat it as it was an attempted insult.
