Yep but I need some fresh air anyway

I will keep an eye on OS4 but not like before.

Thanks for your wish, I have some demos in mind and maybe an unfinished game project waiting since the 90s, see what I can do.

@Massi

Welcome to the club of loosing interests for OS4 :)

I was to sell my x1000 but bricked it while changing psu, connecting an 1tb harddrive reformating and removing some private files on the ssd. Bye bye money and all the modding to make it silent etc.

I installed winuae and os4.1fe for old times sake. Just like previous installed os3.9 under e-uae on os4 :) The 128mb ram limit will make it less fun to use

In a positive way: Still 30+. Two Amiga daughters that want to play with Amigas as they are "The Best Computers Ever"!

Maybe some AngryBirds in a Nokia but never wins the Amiga experience.

Just a customers point of view.

Anything good that comes on OS4 this D.A.D. will buy. Wings for example.

A killer app as everybody knows. I try to promise not to whine ever again in my lifetime.

Only €, dollars, pounds. I like the platform.

It is Really the Goods needed. If some Finnish Supercell and Rovio makes millions and one bedroom company a few how come it has come so hard in a well known brand. (In our pages anyway)

Just a stupid consumer from the beginning.

Hello World;)

Direct port for "x86" would be more sensible choice then.

With a native port you end up with better performance and accessibility but even more compatibility issues and the same deficiencies. And at what cost?

Either way, we can pontificate ad nauseam but it's clear that it's not a question of which direction to take, it's that we're aboard a rudderless ship.

And before anyone misinterprets that comment, I'm *not* suggesting that this is an A-EON issue. In fact, it's pretty obvious that the only thing keeping Hyperion afloat is A-EON.

Good read! It's great that Trevor has got to meet so many movers and shakers in the Amiga community past and present. Let's hope for a successful X5000 launch soon!

Excellent read.

It seems increasingly obvious to me that the most important software for A-EON to acquire and support is now the OS.

That would be ideal.
But how do we get Ben to sell it?

Considering the delays, that's a given. To have the hardware ready to go but no OS yet must be an annoyance but Hyperion have the expertise if not the ability to hit a deadline! "When it's done!" costs A-EON in reputation, degrades their investment and will ultimately act in putting off new users who will think bug fixes and updates will be slooow in coming

I suppose a critically buggy and substandard OS bundled with the X5000 on launch would be even worse though, so let's hope they are just applying polish at this point

@iggy

I can't honestly imagine that the OS is generating enough revenue to justify the grief for Ben and it's clear that the resources simply aren't there to invest in its development. No disrespect towards Ben or Hyperion but perhaps it's time to explore options.

It's quite conceivable that A-EON has no real interest in the OS or in changing the situation so I don't want to misappropriate the suggestion.

But...

Trevor has been able to produce new hardware, subsidize software development efforts, unite disparate factions within the community and act as an emissary for the platform. Much of this has been on his own initiative.

Trevor is the face of the Amiga.

Guys your first step should be asking Ozzy for rights to his song Dreamer, coz this would be a great motto / anthem for Amigans

I'm just a dreamer, I dream my life away
I'm just a dreamer, who dreams of better days

@thread

After viewing many of the Amiga 30th celebrations and interviews with the old C= Amiga designers, I noticed just how close the hardware and software OS teams worked together to produce the Amigas that captured our interest, imagination, and ingenuity.

Although it may be a just a dream to have the hw and sw people working side-by-side under the same roof with the same goal of producing a seamless work of computing power and operation, it is a good dream.

We do not see what is happening behind the scenes. Perhaps Steven Solie is working close with the Ultra Varisys/A-eon team. I don't know. All I know is that the current situation is that of extremely slow progress. I thought the X5000 was supposed to be ready to sell last year around this time.

Oh well.

@PhantomInterrogative

From the outside looking in, they appear to be in competition with each other.
