@BSzili

Well the level of cooperation is underwhelming.
Aeon has stockpiled boards they have designed to run OS4 while awaiting Hyperion's port of OS4 to those boards, and waiting, and waiting....

Personally, I am very impressed with what Trevor has accomplished.
If Hyperion can't keep up, they should transfer the rights to OS4 to someone else who will commit more resources to the project.

But they have invested a lot of money and effort in OS4, let alone the AmigaInc. court case. Ben Hermans will not sell his skin cheap.

Have they?
They don't even pay the Friedens for full time work.
As to legal expenses, Ben is a lawyer isn't he?

And they never had to pay for the rights to develop AOS, they were paid to develop it.

Considering the delays, that's a given. To have the hardware ready to go but no OS yet must be an annoyance but Hyperion have the expertise if not the ability to hit a deadline! "When it's done!" costs A-EON in reputation, degrades their investment and will ultimately act in putting off new users who will think bug fixes and updates will be slooow in coming

I suppose a critically buggy and substandard OS bundled with the X5000 on launch would be even worse though, so let's hope they are just applying polish at this point

Definitely more than an annoyance. Lots of money tied up in those boards, and lots of potential sales lost the more time goes by. Must be infuriating.

I don't think they are polishing. Haven't even shipped their 'first contact' boards.

I don't see this as a pipe dream. It's the elephant in the room.

If you read the blog you'll be familiar with the quote from Steve Jobs. That applies equally here. Options are emerging.

Yes, by all means lets pray again at the altar of a prime technological scavenger.

This is not a 0 cost affair.
He had to take airplane, sleep somewhere, eat somewhere. Meanwhile he is not defending someone else case, so don't earn money while spending some.

Never said it was, but "a lot of money"?
I wish.
Would that someone with significant funding back this OS.

@OlafS25

Ever wonder how much Trevor could afford to fork over for the rights to this?
I honestly don't understand why Hyperion wouldn't sell it.
It can't have brought them that much income.

Didn't Trevor say in an interview that he supported Hyperion with money during their case with Amiga Inc.?

Yes, found the interview he said he helped Hyperion with money:

Listen/look from 16:14 and onwards.

I wasn't aware of that.
It is an interesting fact.

Maybe AcubEonKit JV could buy the OS.

Trevor also once said (and I don't remember the exact wording) that "he admires Ben Herman for not having given up" (again, I don't remember the exact wording), unfortunately I can't remember in what interview hat was.

Since we really don't know what is going on behind curtains I don't think its fair to bash Hyperion.

They might have made many mistakes, but they got AmigaOS thill here, in a time when nobody else really really stepped forward to do so.

I'm sure more than one thing did not turn out they way it was planned

@kamelit0

I'm sure NDA prevented you from saying anything about the screenshot. Of course, considering that Trevor said the P5040 module would be ready in 2016, and that Varisys delivers motherboards on a weekly basis, it is possible that both the X5000/020 and X5000/040 may be released at the same time.

Screenshot kamelit0 linked is part of bigger picture on Trevor´s blog. It seems Trevor likes to hide little riddles in his blog posts.

Like Tabor's first outing at Amiga30 UK. Most people weren't aware it was even there.

Valid points.
I surely do not want to get into personalities as I can easily be as abrasive as Hermans has ever been.
Also we DO have a history of continuing melodrama.

The thing that still bothers me is how slow Hyperion is to deliver.

At one time I thought this was due to a desire to aqquire the rights to OS4 through legal manuvering.

Ah, that may just be my bad attitude.

But it IS weird that Bill McEwen wanted OS4 created AND that one of the systems it was proposed that ACK. Systems design and produce WAS what Nemo became.

Maybe we don't have as many villians as we have thought we had.
