Petro T. Tyschtschenko has announced on his Facebook page that the batch of NOS A1200 Magic Packs are going to be available from the 15 of November...

Think the price is going to be about 150 Euros, might be advisable to get in touch with him via Facebook if anyone is looking to buy one of these...

... excl. shipping & VAT, thus he mentioned 200 Euros at Classic Computing event according to our readers.

@Darrin

Now the big question is: Whose voice is the loudest?

Be nice to get a NOS A1200 but the reality is I own 6 and of those the flag ship A1200T/060 that I last used hasn't been switched on once since around 2003.

@Slayer

Hmm, 10 years and not yet an easy decent network solution to connect our classics with the ng's.

Does your wife use a computer for that? What's your function then?

Anyway if you want an A1200 for not to much money, then this is your once-in-a-lifetime's chance.

If she does - this is where you kindly and gently explains to her "but honey this is not just a computer, this is my new girlfriend!"

Buy it anyway, and when she said "I told you no", tell her you bought it with the money from the swear box. :)

At €200 that equates to the Amigakit price on their site today.

It would be awesome if those could be reproduced these days and then have PPC accelerator options to get them AOS4 compatible.

You really think so? Things to ponder: what do you need 4 floppy drives for? What do you want with an IDE (PATA!) controller in some very low range PIO-mode for? What do you want to achieve with an PCMCIA which is not fully compliant? What do you want with 4 8-bit sound channels? And what do have in mind for AGA, which is quite useless/obsolete nowadays?
Back in 'those' days it was a phenomenal piece of equipment, but the state of technology has pushed forwards at an incredible rate. No, however much I like the Amiga's original hardware concept, it is fully clapped out in terms of current state of technology.

I'm not on FaceBook and do not plan to be for now. Is there any other way to buy one of these A1200s?

@OldFart

You could obviously modernize some interfaces, etc... but build around 68k compatibility for AOS 3.9 (and older). With Amiga users using these things 20 some years later and have various hardware add-ons/accessories at their disposal makes it not totally worthless.

I guess the cup is 1/2 empty in your world!

I have the same Magic Pack from AmigaKit and it runs 3.9 just fine...
But I switched over to 3.5 cause it's cooler!
