Depends on the price and FPU performance, hopefully it will be a fair bit cheaper than the SAM460CR, otherwise its a complete bungle. _________________

| Looking at the pictures (of the A1222), it looks like the connector bars are too tall for DIY laptop projects. Unless you can remove them easily and put behind extension cables. Last edited by Tomppeli on 09-Jan-2016 at 03:16 PM.

Nice read a bit short for sure but hey there's more to come as you wrote.
Little question do you know what is the "POXY INTERFACE"?

Right. It doesn't make sense to invest in something which costs like a 460, but with a much worse CPU. |

But it would be a great tribute to the A600 which was supposed to be cheaper than the A500 but turned out more expensive and less compatible Last edited by BigD on 09-Jan-2016 at 08:58 PM.

It could be a good upgrade from the Sam if:
The shortcomings of the QorIQ P1022 are fixed in the OS. And if the hardware drivers of the onboard hardware are ready by introduction.

Not good benchmark...
P1022 (single core used) is faster in integer operations than 460EX, but slower in FPU operations (even when compiled for e500v2). However, e500v2 "FPU" is not compatible with Amiga applications, so most software using FPU will be even slower. P1022 based computer makes sense only when far more cheaper than SAM460EX. Otherwise, it is waste of resources. |

for what i can now of today use integer continue be most impotant thing because all the old floating points are did by the modern gpu. the good news of today is the amd make a new opensorce driver , i hope amigaos will take advantage of it... gor now linux ppc start fly on g5 now i start watching the advantage of new gpu in the machine
the real advantage in any way will be when the machine will use smp on os4 Last edited by tlosm on 10-Jan-2016 at 12:13 PM.

None of the existing OS4 software does floating point on the GPU, nor is it possible to offload random parts of the code to run on the GPU. Otherwise CUDA, DirectCompute or OpenCL wouldn't exist. _________________ This is just like television, only you can see much further. |
