until hyperion has their mind changed, AmigaOS will only run on new ppc hardware, and a side effect of that is relying on people like trevor to spend their own money to make these ppc motherboards.

If there was a general boycott of Hyperion in the AmigaOS 4 community then
Hyperion Entertainment would have to think twice about their strategy ...

As long people do what Hyperion likes them to do there will be no reason
for them to change their minds ...

OT :

I have started building my new dream Amiga.It will run on Zilog
Z80 that will be pushed beyond 1 Ghz and will have 32 cores
(only one will be used though).
First model will come in 2 or 4 colors options but I plan to push
that all theway to 16 colors eventually ... I will ask Aros devs
to start making ArosZ80 right away (it will be caller Aros Futureal).
Now cheaper models without sound will cost around 10000 $ but
I can add sound card for 1000 $ extra.
It will have 128 Kb of fast DDR3 on board expandable to 256 Kb
with daughterboard (which will cost around 2000 $).
I will be taking pre-orders starting next week ...

They need cutom motheboards since they make laptops and AIOs of their own design. Same like Asus or HP does for their own laptops and AIOs...

They also have desktops ones

The point of the matter is that a x86 custom design is not useless after all, that's what we're talking

You have any proof for those claims ?

My speculation, but given what we saw I think it's reasonably likely. Why else did they drop the Efika & PPC in general & switch to ARM? Obviously the (PPC) market was not large enough for selling it at that price (I think Bill Buck even said something to that effect).

@Fransexy

They had 1 model only...

good luck to A-eon, but it seems MOS will remain the possible hobbyist PPC choice for me - this is just too expensive.

@Derfs

To be honest new boards for >1000 EUR will not change much, it will be bought by the geeks and perhaps some people who were not happy with Acubes offerings and thought that the X1000 is too expensive. A new cheap, affordable and competitive solution might have added some more users but it would not have changed everything. I read that the MorphOS supporter were disappointed now because there were only few new registrations (mostly people making registrations for their fourth or fifth system and only few real new users). If we want to get out of the "retro corner" we need solutions based on standard hardware and new software (that is what i try to support) with better developer support. Even a cheap PPC would have problems because people would ask why buying a new hardware without obvious advantages.

Modern web, office and media player applications - basic requirement If we want to get out of the "retro corner". And of course, support for portable devices (laptops, tablets) would also help.

Once again you guys harras a thread full of good news for users of AmigaOS 4.xx
with your condescending attitudes. Congratulations. You really show your support to those who actually dares to do anything with their money, and to those who are thankfull and happy about it.

"but they are making a mistake"
"they should go x86"
"it's totally wrong everything they do"
"they should make efika 2"
"hyperion is not as good as mos devs"
"nobody wants these products"

I can't belive you are allowed to do this everytime something good is happening for AmigaOS

If you are so clever why don't you go and make some new hardware and a OS yourselves???

Then you could use your time there instead of spoiling someone elses happiness.

@Hondo

Which AmigaOS system do you use?

Will you buy one of the new systems?

It's a public forum for discussion. You don't want to read criticism, fine, start your own board for followers. Problem solved

What do you even expect?

Any new Amiga hardware is reason for celebration, be it under-powered FPGA Amiga replacement or over-priced computer for AmigaOS. Really good time to be Amiga fan!

I did not start "X86" here (it was mentioned by someone making a interview with Trevor D.).

And thank you I am already very "busy". BTW what are you doing?

That was another "myster file" of another company, ACube...

I bet it is AGA version of Minimig (or similar FPGA hardware).

That I would like but I guess there would be no mystery
there ... I was hoping that it was Moana but I guess that
would just make to much sense
