The links were all temporary. Xeno74 has all the kernels and ISO's hosted. Most Screen shot were obsolete anyway. They just show where I had reached . I left my last two posts which are relevant to setting up an emergency boot partition which can be used to create a multiple Linux Distribution set up.
My last 3.13 Kernel was compiled after my Sam460ex died and the archive was done in a manner that makes it obvious were the kernel files and modules go. The configuration used is included and the patch applied to get Radeon HD DRM support is on each ISO.
Plus when the teacher wipes the blackboard he can tell who has been paying attention or who has not. _________________ Sam460ex : Radeon Rx550 Single slot Video Card : SIL3112 SATA card |

Thanks for your explanations.
There has been a precedence for bounties being set up to buy people machines - have you thought about this way? It would be a shame to lose all your hard work on it, and I know many people benefit from your Linux effort. |

Thanks for all your work.
If I have a Radeon HD card and Linux working in my 440 flex, it's for your great work and help.
Thanks again. |

Thanks. But I would have been more interested in understanding from the Amiga Community. The members of the same community who kept asking Why cant we have Linux for Sam's like the X1000. The same community that is waiting for AmigaOS 4.2 and Gallium3D.something that is taken from Linux. What was interesting about the Amigans.net thread was the number of Developers and Beta testers with the free time to jump in .

Your work on linux has opened a new world of possibilities for sam460. I was expecting 2d hardware acceleration for radeonhd on linux.
I do not want to pressure anybody but i stili think Acube should support you in someway.
If that is the final decision,i just want to thank you.

We apprecate what you have done for the community and the users, and we happy your worked on it, and sharing your work.
The issue is not that, the issue is where its posted, not that it is posted in general.
Some people are worrying about the people making the wrong assumption, connecting dots, between AmigaOS and Linux that is not there. And some people like my self thinks its a bit of information overflow, as I see the same postings on all the Amiga forums.
I think you have proven your self as a good asset for the people how are interested in Linux and developers who need a cross compiler, or people who do want to run Linux apps, because they don't like Windows.
And if bounty was opened I believe people will donate so that you can get your self a new Sam460. Last edited by NutsAboutAmiga on 25-Jan-2014 at 05:55 PM.

Money is not the issue. I never asked for it. Had Acube had Sam460ex boards in stock on Sunday when I lost My Sam460ex I would have order a new one. Things changed on Monday with serious power outages . Priority shifted to protecting five surviving computers including my Sam440ep-flex. Then Friday the Amigan.net thread. He has never posted in the X1000 Linux section that he has an issue with Linux support on the Hyperion Support Forum. No he craps in the Sam Linux support forum. The he creates a Thread on Amigans.net to discuss what he does not like to see on the Hyperion Support forum ?. I have enough of these types around me in real life.

My understanding of the thread was more that the people who didn't use Linux wanted a way to see the AmigaOS news without the Linux. I don't think anyone at all was actually saying anything about the linux itself - just the fact that it wasn't possible to filter out Linux news on that particular forum for those who weren't interested...? Nonetheless, thanks from me too for all the hard work you have done in the past! |

I know that feeling :)
I spent ages once porting the latest MAME 0.141 (or something) to AmigaOS 4. One of the first replies was "Why did you do that? Please do MAME 0.37!". It can make you feel pretty annoyed, when you put so much work in and still someone complains somehow! Honestly, though - there was no bad intent in that thread, please don't take it as such. It was just a small gripe at the forum admins, I think.
I would see if you can't get Acube to look at your Sam - after all, they benefit from your work on Linux for their machines! If they can't fix it, send the motherboard to me if you like - I probably can't do anything but I have a better chance than most - and if I do manage to repair it obviously there'd be no charge. Better than letting it sit unused in a corner of the room, anyway.

Hope you can re read the thread over on Amigans and see the target was not Linux or your work! It seems more of a complaint about the set up of AmigaOS forum and an indirect comment on the lack of AmigaOS update news.
Stick with us! We Amigans really appreciate you and your work.

The purpose of the thread was to stir up trouble . There is no need for him as an X1000 user to read below the third Heading under AMIGAOS Support. Which is- Platform AmigaOne X1000

The motherboard has a piece melted out at the front on the underside ,in line with the PCIEx4 slot so I dont think that it can be repaired . The issue is do you spend your money on the same model or wait for the newer one, even if it is more expensive, or move away from the platform .

Boredom. So they complain about everything. Especially the things that other people do to overcome the boredom.

I didn't see it like that at all, to be honest. To quote from the start of the thread:
Quote:
Am I in awe of the skills and hard work of the Linux guys that maintain the kernals and distros? Hell yes they do awesome work!
But as a fan of AmigaOS, the AmigaOS support forum being Linux heavy does irk me a little. :D
|
That says to me exactly the opposite - that he did not want to stir up trouble, but just had a minor gripe he wanted to get off his chest.
Or was it a different post you're referring to?
I can't help but feel this whole thing is one of the classic mis-understandings that the interwebs is so good for.... |

| I have understood Spectre's reason of this decision.
Spectre660, I'll host your ISOs and kernels as long as possible.
@All: I have decided to exit the Linux threads on Amigans. You find the last Linux downloads by Spectre660 on www.supertuxkart-amiga.de/amiga/sam.html . There are some screenshots of Linux PPC on Sams in the following thread: http://www.a1k.org/forum/showthread.php?p=699699#post699699 .
Spectre660, Thank you very much indeed for your hard work. I hope that ACube help you, to fix or exchange your Sam460ex motherboard.

Oh sorry, you mean a Linux distribution, right? OK, I think Lubuntu 12.04.3 LTS is the fastest and most stable one on the Sam460ex. But Lubuntu 14.04 LTS is also a good choice for the future.
