I wonder how the AmiWest Developer Award went?

awesome we have guaranteed hardware for 10 years and from a trusted supplier (Motorola=Freescale
).

as for the naming I'd much prefer to see the new boards called X3000, X4020, X4040 following the X1000's lead of course

Well, if we think there might be even more,
why not using simple X2000 or X2000/2020/2040

I'm fine with that as long there's no A in front of it as I think that honour belongs to our classics

Exactly.

However, it was nice to see takemehomegrandma so upset on Amiga.org.

I´m bad, I know.

The banquet, which I'm guessing includes the roundtable discussion after:

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/40004768

I think most segments of the show, to date, are available on ustream, including Solie's segment.

On utube I only see Trevor's segment so far, which I posted prior.

@pavlor

I bit agree with him. X2000, X2040, X2020, X2000/20,X2000/40 ...

More important ...

a) As with Nemo, the Cyrus Plus motherboard has been custom designed to run the latest version of AmigaOS 4 and will support multiple PowerPC Linux distri- butions. The board is pin compatible with several 64-bit Freescale QorIQCPUs including the P3 P3041, an e500mc quad-core CPU running up to 1.5 Ghz and the P5 series P5020, an e5500 dual-core running up to 2.0 Ghz. The P5040 quad-core CPU which operates up to 2.4 Ghz should also be compatible.

DOES THIS MEAN I CAN BUY CYRUS PLUS AND UPGRADE CPU LATER TO PPC64 x4 cores?

b) Who gives money to who A-EON funds Varisys or Varisys to AEON?

As it's soldered on board in a high density BGA I wouldn't recommend trying it as a DIY job.
No mention was made of upgrading, but given the likely cost, effort, and quality issues involved, I would doubt it will be offered.

Iirc the initial batch of 500 will be 400x 5020s (iirc) with the option to decide closer to the time what cpu the last 100x will have (5040 or 3041).

A-Eon have contracted Varisys' services for design and manufacture: A-Eon pay money to Varisys.

No. The cpu is a BGA and is soldered on. It *MIGHT* be possible to rework one, but there would be a big risk failure/damage to the board.

A-EON (Trevor) funds Varisys to carry out design work. He then pays additional amount for each board manufactured.

@Daz

OK thanks for clarification, pin compatibility mentioned
just creates confusion.

Then, I ll wait for quad core board to become affordable
and when I pay off X1000 ... which is 2018

In hind site I probably would have called single core machines to be the X1000 series, Dual core the X2000 series and 4 core the X4000 series and so on. to late for that now. The 440's and 460's would have been 500 and 1000 series.

Again, x86 would be much better choice.

It is AmigaOS incompatible so majorly pointless.

With the trend that Commodore followed? Meaning the X2000 will be $2,000 and the X4000 will be $4,000.
