@kas1e

How can WBStart be used if it can't find SYS:WBStartup/ ?

Newstuff doesn't run for me. I haven't been randomly deleting files (and rather resent your accusation that I have). The only things I have deleted were the no-longer-used items as suggested by MUI itself, and I deleted them through the Mui interface.

Can you please let me where these classes are located so I can check if they are there?

@daveyw

All demos are meant as an example for "how to develop stuff with MUI" in the first place, not "how to use the system". I admit that the WBMan demo is no longer a perfect demo on recent AmigaOS4 systems, but nevertheless the source code can teach interested people the basics about MUI. That is why I decided to still include this demo.

Regarding the NewStuff demo I must say this is a fault of me. The Rawimage.mcc class requires z.library to be installed in order to be able to handle zlib compressed raw images. Without that library it will fail to create the object and in turn will let fail the creation of the application. This will be changed. So either be patient oir install z.library.

OS4 still can handle that directory , so you can manually create it and put what you need here and it will works as before.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I thought that WBMan was kept purely as an example, but I would suggest updating it so it actually works straight away.

@kas1e

There is problem whit wbstartup folder.

I used to add this folder during install procedure of Excalibur.
But then it did not load.

Then I added it to wbstartup prefs also, then it did load, but people complained again.

So I moved the Excalibur to SYS:Utilities, and now people where happy.

I do not remember what people complained or way it did not work, but I'm shore it has some problems.

I did the update which included MUI4 but it still says MUI3.9 and looks like before. Also Exchange doesn't start anymore complaining that commodities.library is too old WTF?

@Trixie

There are some "lamers" who are writing in "some sites" it is a reverse engineering of the Mui4 for Mos...
I can say only one thing ... if thay make this port from a Reverse Eng. from Mos ... they are genious and have all my respect...

@tlosm

Than pray tell how do you think this came to pass ?

I've sofar seen no evidence of Stuntzi or any other MorphOS-dev being involved in this further than providing a ca. 2006 snapshot of MUI4-beta.

How much of the functionallity added in MUI4.0 to the current 4.2 has been added to this one is unclear, but surely no orginals sources were used for it.

Recreating a well documented API ontop of a rather similar base might have been a lot of boring work but surely requires no "genious".

For sure only who make the porting can explain it ...
... and for sure if they made a R.E. on Mui4 port are genious because i dont know many people here and somewhare who can do such job...

Didn't you know? Vox is a legal genius! I mean, I can't understand a single post he makes any more, so I assume that's just because he's using super-complicated legal speak that my average engineer's brain cannot make sense of.

Anyway, as for the main topic, if MUI 4 for OS4 came from a beta of MUI4.0, then it is of course MUI4... Just not version 4.2 that MOS has. I don't see what the big deal is. If licencing for the version that's made for OS4 has been paid or otherwise agreed, then what's the problem? MOS still has a higher version number which in this case reflects the greater level of development put into it at this point in time, but they're looking like two different forks of the 4.0 Beta codebase with a common API to me, and will most likely stay that way. Is it just some petty bitterness on the part of certain specific MOS users that's causing all this noise? Because that's exactly what it looks like to me.

Right!.. and we have to be happy because we have a super genious who can make a Reverse Engeenering of something in AmigaOs 4 dev team...
... this means soon they will make reverse eng of Windwos Api and MacOs X api and SGI Api too ... and will put togeter for make a super ultra modern ultimate system AmigaOs5.

Eh... Nope. Reverse engineering an API isn't that big a deal, as has been pointed out. Not sure what you're trying to say by putting in other APIs... What was your point?
