| A-EON took over this site now as well. Nothing against Trevor, but i don't like when community sites are bought by companies involved in the market. I prefer independence. _________________ My programs: via.bckrs.de MorphOS user since V0.4 (2001) |

Also, Trevor announced it in his Amiwest speech.
But, as we've already been promised after amiga.org was assimilated, I can assure you: "Nothing will change".
The funny thing about this: the most independent Englisch portal for people interested in Amiga OS 4 is now... amigans.net
You have to love this. |

No issue with this at all. A-Eon and Amigakit have delivered time after time for the 68k and NG Amiga community.
I expect the usual Moobunny idiots will moan and grumble for a while though.

they actually need to buy anews and moo. because these sites, except some polish portals where none visits, are actually the only sites to my knowledge that have taken any notice of amiwest. Last edited by wawa on 25-Oct-2014 at 11:14 PM.

+1 for no issue with A-EON owning AW.net and +1 for moobunny being a place of idiots. _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

Neither do I, I love it.
I mean, a commercial vendor who doesn't have to fear competition, regulation or critical journalists is gaining control over the community's few remaining waterholes so the decision what is discussed and how it's discussed lies ultimately with him.
What's not to love about this? It's just fun and hobby, right? It's not like they're selling outdated, badly supported hardware for >3000 Euros, right?
I love it. |

Well, there is English Amiga Board (tho mostly classic oriented), ADA Amiga (demo oriented) and probarly plenty of other places where Amigakit/Aeon doesnt moderate.
But it does make sense that the websites/adresses that are easiest found when googling for Amiga will be of intrest for a commercial oriented company.
I, for one, is quite happy to see AEON/Amigakit to move forward quite agressivly. They seem to have a plan, and seem to be hellbent on following thru with it. |

What is the point in a commercial entity owning a web site if not to present their own products in a postivie light? I hardly think they are just going to pay all the hosting bills and want NOTHING in return.
If that's all he wanted to do I'm sure the old owners would have taken a cheque to pay the operating costs for a few years. "Job done."
So yeah, this is sad. Sorry Trevor, you /are/ a cool guy but this is not a good idea for the longevity of this tiny community, and most likely your businesses. Last edited by Aslak3 on 25-Oct-2014 at 11:38 PM.
