| Also, more serious question. What's there to stop A-EON from paying Hyperion to stop them from bringing Amiga OS4 for any other hardware except A-EON's own? Or else, buy Hyperion completely... Last edited by Everblue on 26-Oct-2014 at 08:16 AM.

Maybe Amiga.org and Amigaworld will be merged next. _________________

That's only part of the issue. A secondary problem is that aw.net is now an asset of aeon/amigakit and should that company fail, aw.net would be sold along with the rest of the assets to pay creditors. So aw.net's future is now directly tied to aeon's future.
Anyone who thinks this is a good idea is mistaken.
Edit: the same problem exists if aeon is sold on, of course. Not that that is very likely.Last edited by Aslak3 on 26-Oct-2014 at 08:47 AM.

Yes it makes sense to control every information source including what software is promoted on app stores and all community portals but it is not good for the community and it is against my own views. Trevor said when he took over amiga.org nothing will change and just for fun and he bought it so to say "accidently", that he now also buys amigaworld.net indicates the opposite and that he did not tell the truth, that they have a plan behind it. | I gotta say, seriously?!? I have nothing against Trevor personally and don't have any strong opinion on the future of any Amiga-type continuation project. But just because you have made a few quid in the oil industry do you have to take over EVERYTHING to do with Amiga? What's next EAB and MOO?
There's others here who command high salaries, live in big houses and still enjoy tinkering with the Amiga, old or new but they don't feel the need to buy up every single Amiga resource a-going.
Bridge too far IMO. _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

The shareholders of Hyperion Entertainment have NO INTENTION to sell their shares for the next few years.
We did not fight a court battle on 2 coasts of the U.S. and in Brussels, Belgium to walk away.
We could have done that years ago and it would have saved us at least 1,2 M USD in legal fees, not to mention all the wasted opportunity costs.

Hyperion is now amigakit and aeon? Did Ben misread or did he let slip something?
Agree on the insufferable ego of some of these people, it's either a business or it isn't. If they want a quasi religion combined with a business that feeds from it's own closed universe then they need look no further than the Church of Scientology for their model.
Money for good product yes, worship in return for tolerance or favours no thanks.
Because of these guys and the Thendic mob it became an insipid little rancid duckpond of a place in 2004. |

Thank you for your commitment to the whole Amiga situation. Despite all the money losses, I hope you do what's best for AmigaOS if it comes to that.
You seem to truly care, and that's a rare and very good situation for AmigaOS.
Thank you Hyperion

Well, if you would have said that in 2007 and you would have put the 1.2 M USD on the table, we would have been happy for you to take over the litigation.
Hyperion (and other companies in the Amiga Community such as Cloanto) fought tooth and nail against Amiga Inc/Amino/Itec to protect Hyperion's intellectual property and the intellectual property of all AmigaOS 4 developers.
If you had the funds, you would have been welcome to contact us back in 2007.
Re-read the court documents and you would understand that this is what was EXACTLY what was at stake.
You are still welcome to contact us to buy some shares in Hyperion to help us develop AmigaOS 4.2 more rapidly that current funding allows.
Let's see how your ego will "evolve" when you own money is at stake.

I am a business lawyer, if you don't have a big ego in that line of work, you might as well pack up and go home.

I won't be buying shares in a company with no plan or clue about how to resurrect a defunct operating system to the wider world. The money and time wasted on keeping the Amiga platform alive is plain and simple madness. I cannot believe that there's enough spare cash sloshing around for people like yourself to immerse yourself in this pipedream.
I have an Amiga setup in my study which I switch on from time to time to remember the good old days. Putting up thousands or millions of dollars to try and become a credible rival to Mac, Windows or Linux is nothing short of delusional. _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

As owner of OS4.1 Classic I can´t share your opinion. It is their money (and money of their customers). It seems there are many people who want to use modernised AmigaOS. Of course, you aren´t one of them |

in a small (and in my view shrinking) community with very limited resources big egos can also be a problem because when everyone has a big ego cooperation of any sort is impossible because only one idea, one concept is the right one and eveyone else is wrong. Working together would mean lowering the ego a little (by everyone). And another wish was that f.e. if someone critisizes you (rightfully or not) you would react more calm and not explode (even if you think that the others are wrong). |

I am very happy to learn that. It would be very frustrating if Amiga OS became exclusive to A-EON hardware.
I have a question maybe you can tell me, are there any legal issues that stops Amiga OS being ported to x86 or ARM architectures?
Thank you! _________________
