Your attitude is very saddening.

@thread

I find it silly that so many can get worked up over a "name" so easy.

How about a trip back to the Golden days of AW when threads were really interesting to read, just a good old Intellectual discussion.

Damato's very poor comment is exactly why this is handled in the public and not "hush, hush" in some private e-mails that probably just would have ended up in "NIL:" like similar such issues in the past.

Pretty much proves my point, actually!

(Sadly, this completely contradicts Thore's proper reply where he honestly wants to correct the issue. This is how one goes on about resolving such issues. Mistakes can happen and I'm the last to put a finger there on it forever, assuming it gets resolved, of course.)

@AmiKit:

>I believe a private email communication would be a much better solution than this carpet flame bombing.

A bit hypocritical after you dragged my name publicly through the mud, published private emails, etc. don't you think?

I think its good thing is out in the public so we can talk about what is normal conduct.
Be polite ask first, don't take credits for others work, it should not be too hard.

Yes reversises engendering is allowed in many countries, but it should be the last solution, it should not be the first action.

This community needs cooperation we are not that many, we should respect etch other.

@paolone

I am simply getting fed up with all this non-sense about people just talking talking talking instead of actually DOING something. And then this non sense about my name change and then this absolute stupid non-sense AmigaOSMorphOS war, etc. etc. IMHO such people are simply mad and nothing else.

And that someone comes up and complains about that clear and simple mistake which clearly wasn't done intentionally in a public fora instead of quickly contacting the other party directly makes me go wild. Thore might be a nicer person in that respect and might apologize nicer, sure. But we both have the same opinion on that matter: It would have been better if tokai would have contacted us directly instead of starting this flame war here. By doing that tokai just wanted to flame somebody to be a little bit more important himself.

Sorry guys, but if someone is really having only that minor problem in his live that his API documentation and examples (which is public anyway) wasn't properly used by accident then this person actually really hasn't any serious problems but is simply trying to find something that makes his daily routine a little be more interesting than it currently is.

Public != Free to use, let alone redistribute, and it never was. Or MorphOS and AROS is free to take whatever it wishes from AmigaOS Autodocs and Documentation from now on, since it's public anyway? Is that your interpretation?

And "by accident" like you left out MUI4 shareware limitations from the first release and tried to open source AmIRC, just accidentally. I think you should understand that what you did by basically forking MUI and stepping up some kind of official maintainer is considered as a hostile takeover by the MorphOS people. And they simply handle you and your "accidental" misuse of things accordingly.

Yeah, I learned a lesson and that's exactly why I wrote that.

I hope someone steals your work one day and incorporates it into their own for profit, and then rubs your face in it as vigorously as you're doing right now.

The one doing the contacting should be you, *before* you decided to use another programmer's work. It does not matter whether it's code, documentation or a documentation example.

It is very apparent, though, that you aren't going to learn that in any foreseeable time frame.

Yeah... copying files from the MorphOS SDK must have been unintentional...

Meanwhile, the infringing downloads are still there at https://muidev.de/downloads ...

He is not doing it for profit, the MUI licence key has to be registrated with orignal owner of Stefan Stuntz, to unlock the skinning feature.

http://www.sasg.com/mui/

the problem is that two different groups of people have different licences to the same source code. And is not sharing code, this what is coursing the fork that has happened.

It might not have been forked if they simply asked instead, so that same code was used instead of now having different code with different bugs to deal with, making it harder for developers to make software for MUI.

This is essentially the problem here.

Damato has wasted a lot of time doing things that where already done by Tokai and others, it should not have been nescessary at all, if only people taked to etch other.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Come on. We have enough work on developing MorphOS, you cant expect us to develop OS4, too. There are enough queries to open source this and that so it can be used for OS4.

Components discussed here (MUI classes and SDK) are part of MorphOS and MorphOS SDK. If you want it we might or might not share it, or ask you to get MorphOS.
