I don't agree. 300 Euro would sell a lot. But I don't think that when Trevor said 700 Euro was too much, he meant anywhere below 500. _________________

How much is a lot? Of course 300€ a board will sell more than 700€ a board. But a tousand? Last edited by Yasu on 18-Oct-2015 at 08:40 PM.

Well, I think that all 440 users(that seems quite many) will be really interested in that board... The others maybe will choose only realted to multicore support and/or linux... _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

| @Yasu Well, if they can sell 500 X5000s at a ridiculous price, I am sure that they can sell 1000 of something which costs way less. I know that X5000 is way more powerful than a Tabor board, but for many, it is enough to get on the Amiga OS train, it doesn't have to be business class.

Would they really if their 440:s still work fine? Some yes, but all or most of them? 300€ seems not like a lot compared to an X5000, but it's still more expensive than a Snickers. _________________ Amiga Forum - Sweden's best Amiga Magazine

Well there is more to it than that.
Ssolie did allude to the Amistore generating relativly decent cashflow/income to Aeonkit, proving there was a genuine market for AOS software. I remember Trevor making a similar comment in Germany. I guess what I took from the comments was that a reliable way of sustaining development will help going forward. IF the A1222 setup is in AOS ppc terms reasonable, I can see them adding more customers for Amistore.
Ssolie made some positive comments bout working with Toni/winUAE, but that was him speaking as a private man, not on Hyperions behalf.
I quite enjoyed ssolie's talk. Very honest and realistic.
He concluded basically, do what is fun for you. If you enjoy aos, use it. Enjoy aros, morphos or any of the 100s of OSs available.
He also did note that he, for the most part, had stopped reading general forums, cause of the massive barrage of negativity. He realise development is slow, and it frustrated him aswell, but barring x amount of developers lining up to help, it is what it is. Last edited by Overflow on 18-Oct-2015 at 08:51 PM.

You are trying to make it sound like 300 Euro is a lot. I am sure it won't be THAT cheap. Unless you know something we dont :) _________________

Who says they can sell 500? I doubt that all that many X1000 users are prepared to upgrade to an almost as expensive board, and I bet most people who is prepared to pay the price already got an X1000.
Like I said, maybe they have found another market on the side? _________________ Amiga Forum - Sweden's best Amiga Magazine

I don't of course I just don't think that many current SAM owners want to upgrade because: why? _________________ Amiga Forum - Sweden's best Amiga Magazine

| @Yasu Well, if they found a market other than the Amiga niche, good for them, AND the Amiga community :)

I agree. If I had a Sam460, I certainly wouldn't upgrade. I think MOST people would be happy just to be able to run Amiga OS and as long as it works (depending what you expect of it of course), you wouldn't keep upgrading. But I don't have a Sam460.
Just to be clear, I'm just looking forward for Tabor as much I am looking forward for MorphOS on x86 :)Last edited by Everblue on 18-Oct-2015 at 08:55 PM.

Well since Tabor will be 2x(and much) faster than every Sam440 board if the price was right, I think that every "power" Sam440 user will upgrade since 2x and more speed upgrade was quite much I think... And it was also mini-ITX!
Only G4 users seems to dont need so much that board...but that was clear only after real benchmarks... _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

AmigaOS can only use one core so that won't matter.
[edit] I misread. Tabor may be faster but still not be a power house. People who want to watch 1080p movies will still have to look elsewhere. Last edited by Yasu on 18-Oct-2015 at 08:59 PM.

You cant possibly know the answer until you know the final specs of the shipped machine. Also performance vs sam460. If it performs well enough and the price is decent (in aos terms) then I would almost be suprised people didnt upgrade. People using Amigas are generally more into computers than most, so id say more inclined to buy hardware. |

well you are absolutely right in general terms but a 2x speed(maybe about 3x for 666/700 users) increase was quite lot as I wrote above... For sure wasnt enough in general I'm the first to say that, but if 1080p movies can be played via Linux that was a choice...if you look at a movie dont need so much AmigaOS so you can switch to Linux...
Still it depends on the final price... _________________ Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori, Perugia, ITALY. |

I have a Sam 460, but I will do certainly do an upgrade, it has more memory, maybe faster sata and hopefully working onboarddrivers this time...and cheaper then a Sam, if the fpu is 'emulated' fast enough. Last edited by bennymee on 18-Oct-2015 at 09:12 PM.

| The board in the system I saw here at Amiwest looked very good. Sure OS4.1 isnt running on it yet but give it time. I think you will all be quite impressed with it. Its clean and very well thought out from what I can see.
