| After a long, long, long, period, it is a pleasure to announce the public availability of the public beta of Cinnamon Writer 0.95
Cinnamon Writer is a compact and efficient word processor developed especially with Amiga and Amiga-like systems in mind. CW has all of the basic functionality expected of a modern word processor. This includes changeable layout style, support of anti-aliased truetype fonts, infinite "intelligent" Undo/Redo history, user defined page setup and file compatibility with Microsoft Word and other word processors.
Get it here!!
As this is a beta-version, users are encouraged to report problems and crashes. I will try to fix the problems found as fast as possible, but be aware that I will prioritize the problems in the following order: Crashes, functionality not performing as intended and finally feature requests. Please be aware that I am very interested in feature requests, but the feature set is more or less frozen for this version.
Please report problems in this thread or send me an email at bugs@desler.be
New functionality: - Support for images - UTF format support - Improved spellchecking - Optimizations and stability improvement - Much, much, more
Known problems: - CW chokes with large documents - Printing/PDF exporting is still very experimental. I am looking for users who uses ghostscript and printer with their amiga routinely - Cursor problems - Screen garbage when starting up. This issue has been reported to me, but I cannot reproduce it. If you see this bug please report which machine you are using and which version of AOS you are running - Trying to open a CW Docx format in Word leads to a warning. Just trust the document, and it should load just fine
If you are looking for a MorphOS version, I am happy to report that CW compiles and runs on MorphOS, however, some MorphOS bugs are present that I need to iron out before releasing
If you like this product and would like to see its development continue, please consider a donation
Update
I have today updated a new beta version of Cinnamon Writer for AOS4 and now also for MorphOS.
Find the new betas here: link
Bug fixes include (but are not limited to:
- Window trashing should be fixed
- Localization should now support other charsets than the generic. Please let me know if the char set of your language is not working satisfactory (but please first see if the problem is caused by limitations of the font used)
- Import of images now works. Feel free to send me images that are not imported correctly
Please let me know if you encounter any bugs Last edited by Desler on 24-Apr-2016 at 03:42 PM.

| @Niolator I will try to build an AROS version once I am happy with AOS4 and MorphOS versions :)
I almost forgot: If you believe that CW is not displaying your Docx document correctly, I would very much like to have the document sent to bugs@desler.be so I can correct the mistake. However, please be aware that I cannot fix problems with things like textboxes and tables since they are not supported by CW yet. Also remember, that if you havn't got the truetype font used in your word document installed on your amiga, the text will look different, and this is not a bug. Happy testing :) |

What image formats does CW support? Not sure if I should report it as a bug or if I'm just trying to insert an unsupported format. I've tried IFF, jpg and png and get a window saying "not found."
What file formats are supported?
Paul
It DID open an all text .docx very nicely.

| @Desler I've never used CW before but I just tried v0.90 and v0.95 and I just get a CW document window full of diagonal line garbage. The tool window looks OK . I'm using OS4.1FE with a Radeon HD 5450 graphics card and 1280x1024 screen resolution on an X1000. I tried several screen depths (8bit, 16bit, 24bit) with the same bad result. The 8bit screen put my mouse pointer into slow motion (and jerky) until I quit CW.

| @Paul It should load PNG, Jpeg, GIF, BMP, PSD, TGA, HDR and PIC formats, but unfortunately I havn't implemented a nice ILBM/IFF reader
@Xenic and others with screen corruption The pieces are starting to come together. It seems that people who use AOS4 FE are experiencing this problem. I will try to fix it, but the immediate fix for people is to resize the screen a little. This is of course not satisfactory, but I will see what I can do |

Curious, I'm NOT experiencing this problem in ANY screen resolution on the OS4 FE.
Edit: Could you please use WA_ScreenTitle with Cinnamon windows? The fact that the main program window displays an empty Workbench screen bar feels wrong. Normally you'd set WA_ScreenTitle to the program or component name, to indicate which program window is currently active.Last edited by Trixie on 12-Mar-2016 at 06:41 PM.

| @Desler Yes. Resizing the window can make the text readable. It's strange because it displays correctly at certain window sizes and not others. If I change the window to full screen size and then back it off a little the text will be displayed, but in a larger size. Changing the font size in the tool window doesn't seem to have any effect.

No change here if I resize the window. Well the bars move when I resize but it stays in bars and I never have a correct display.

I am also getting the diagonal lines in both beta & FE on an x1000. Resizing the window just right does clean it up. Wondering if its the Radeon gfx cards we're using, it comes up clean on a SAM440 with FE & a 9250 card. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

thanks for this new release ! no screen corruption here under FE, maybe a radeonHD thing since I only have a non HD radeon on my A1G4 !
You mention that German, English and French are included for spell checking but I can select only English in the settings ??
BTW Is multiple open files planned (as tabsor multiple windows) ? |

| @All with screen corruption It seems to primarily affect people with high end amigas (X1000). I will try to match up with an affected user and do some diagnostics and solve this problem.
