@kas1e

I want you have configured and operational my YAS 2.9 and Simplemail Installations.

It's more important than the games.

Can somebody carry the task of configuring these two e-mail clients just for me.

I can send via PM.

And about Amiga type Playstation ones gamepads.Where can I get one?

What are compatibles with my X.5000?

I want to play games such MAME 0.151,FPSE and ROTT for example.

Yes I have all the drivers of Warp3D Nova installed from my favorite dealer Amedia from France.

About the WHDLoad game complete pack the archive is intact since I downloaded from the Internet months ago.And is to play the games with RunInUAE.

I hope someone here can catch attention for my problems anyway

Using YAM 2.10dev will probably fix your problems. I don't think all the SSL issues were handled with 2.9.

Download the latestly monthly from http://yam.ch/
Once installed you will have to download a new executable about every month, but it works wonderfully on my X5000.

@newlight

In GUI Prefs, Effects page, is compositing able and enabled?

So you installed AmiSSL 4.1?

How were you downloading games? You were emailed a game as attachment? But it won't download ther email?

Internet works otherwise?

Hard to diagnose without knowing ISP, settings and on screen errors. Perhaps best to open a new thread. Lots of different issues here, some don't look X5K related, but software related.

Wow!
Not cool at all.
Tabor's not released yet, or the P5040 based X5000, and a PPC/Linux advocate leaves the house.

I'm still buying one last PPC system, but the writing is on the wall folks.
No Freescale no AMCC, no PPCs...as was said....over and out.

@thread,

What are the chances Hyperion Entertainment will complete AmigaOS4.2 (as originally described and promised free to X1000 owners), before the last 5020/5040 PPC CPUs stop being produced?

I'd say it's probably 50/50 chance, but only if they don't quit working on it, since the 5020 & 5040 PPC CPU's are supposed to be available for a few more years guaranteed. There is also probably a 50/50 chance that Hyperion Entertainment stops development of AmigaOS4 completely, and leaves the Amiga community, so that someone else will be required to step up, to get 4.2 completed.

Edit: Does Hyperion still have any programmers working on AmigaOS4.2? Do they get paid, or only work on it 5 hours a month, when they feel like it?

SMP or AMP will work regardless if the OS is running on PA6T or P5020/5040 CPUs. If it's implemented properly.
That said, I do not believe we'll ever see 4.2 as was described 7-8 years ago. Maybe if A-eon takes over, but it would take years, probably well into 2020s.

@kas1e

My X5000 motherboard arrived yesterday! I will put it together this weekend.

Are there any pitfalls to avoid or anything to be aware of during assembly?

No, there wasn't any pitfalls. I even first time boot without dvd / hdd, just to check if something visibly on screen, and as all was ok, then i attach dvdrw and hdd. Through, should to note, that in case with my dvd there is bug in the UBOOT: it didn't shows in uboot at all , but, it still detected and works fine.

As from software side, if you wasn't os4 user before, probably only advice to not think that its all will be as on windows, like "click/click/all works", os4 hobby os, so need a bit of dig in into details to make all allright.

I mean, take a look at newlight's problems: they chaotic and unstructured. He can't configure networks, mail clietns, games, basic operations. Probably he expect that everything will be easy-peasy without needs to dig in, but its still need some knowledge and patience to configure all allright. He even can't answer properly to Spectre's question exactly about what version and of what installed, so no chances to help him.

what would you say, if you spend thousands of dollars on a product wouldn´t you expect to work out of the box, at least regarding the components that are already integrated?

SMP will break lots of 68k software, we saw that on AROS now when testing Aros 68k with the changes. At highest you can only implement a very primitive concept that has nothing to do with SMP and needs adapted software, that will be weak point of Tabor too, no multicore support and even if it would need adapted software so no benefit there

sorry, but this isnt any definite for what i am aware of. none is seriously trying to implement multicore on aros68k. there isnt any hardware it could even be tested with. there was simply a common, platform independent, semaphore structure that apparently required some padding, at least for x64 smp, which change slipped through, since most 68k software worked with this. this has been reverted and all is fine in this respect. other than that all or most smp changes are either in appropriate arch branch or guarded by smp ifdefs.

Good to hear. Yes, I have an A1XE and use 4.1FE already. I like to customise my Workbench quite a lot, so I am expecting to spend quite a bit of time installing & configuring to get it the way I like.

I used to have a DVD drive for my A1 that was very flaky, it would only boot 1 in every 5 attempts. Bought it brand new. Replaced with with a cheap 2nd hand drive, it that one worked brilliantly.

No one will setup for you your accounts in mail clients. No one will install for you commercical 3d party games. No one will fix your problems with amidock, when you chaotic press on buttons and remove all by one and do not know what you add, for what, and from where.

And, let's be adequate there : you know what is amiga, you know what is amigaos, morphos, aros, whatever. And before spending thousand dollars, you should know how to use such things, for what you need it, and what you want from it. If you can't FOR SAKE OF MIGHTY CHRIST setup mail clients, and even think that writing phrases like "my YAM don't download games" (wht ? my phone don't dance for me?) , then, my bet that even on windows there will be problems.

So, plz, do not show it like someone buy something, and it didn't provide what expected. It give exactly what we all know : just better and faster hardware, with hobby-antique os, which is do what you want to do, but if you don't you can fuckup it very-very easyly.

Probably you misread my "need to dig in". By that i mean, you should know that there is filesystem, internet, archives which unpacks by unarchives, deficons which you can fuckup if you will erase something from system. Not like you should know nothing, press "ok" and everything automatically will works. Even on windows it didn't works like this.

Hope that clear.

Then for you it will be pleasure and exactly what you expect :) I am sure you don't expect like some others that there is some magic SMP should be "soon" and co :)
