And before all new Enhancer Software, how about a sound driver for Tabor and start of production and sale? _________________ F1 Srbija |

Is this a real statement coming from former Team Lead and Core Developer of AmigaOS4? Really?
BTW. You must have understood what cdimauro was asking for, just as anyone else on this forum did.Last edited by michalsc on 19-Mar-2019 at 11:18 AM.

Tabor is looking less and less likely. Looks like the whole "NG" scene is going to implode before the software and drivers for it are ready. |

sometimes you sit in a bubble too
the most updated version of Odyssey was on Aros X86 and is public, it is easy to work together there already.
https://github.com/deadwood-pl/OdysseyWebBrowser
Deadwood gave bugfixes to both kas1e (AmigaOS) and MorphOS team, at least up to now nobody joined.
MUI5... as far as I know Stefan Stuntz who developed MUI was open to cooperation but other members in the team are not so MUI is closed. Aros has a MUI implementation so there is another chance for MorphOS team to show interest in cooperation.
Poseidon again both Aros and MorphOS, easy to cooperate
CybergraphX again both Aros and MorphOS, so another chance to cooperate
so lots of unused opportunities up to now (at least I am not aware of cooperation in any of the fields). The only area were certain aros libraries that were used in Morphos and changes were given back.
To me it looks like MorphOS team is not much more interested in cooperation than Hyperion. But perhaps I have missed something then I would be glad to be informed |

Nah, that's just him "purposely causing trouble to draw attention to himself, so that the team of developers can focus on doing what they do best and don't have to worry about what is happening in web forums or whatever."

What is the "official" OS? |
Matthew, let's be fair and realistic about this: at the moment, the official OS is still the one coming from Hyperion. Unless this changes (and I hope it does at some point), all we do in the Amiga Developer camp are additions to and/or enhancements of Hyperion's OS. Some of them are truly substantial and innovative, some of them may even be necessary to run A-EON's hardware, but the fact of the day is: we have no OS, we are merely working around its many limitations.

Wasn't really talking about AROS, Open Source or "cooperating" at all. |

then why "There are several MorphOS projects by very talented developers that AeonKit could opt to support"?
Why should anyone support closed source MorphOS projects? |

I had the same thought. If the boards are not yet in production, it would probably be best to wait until this all falls out and reassess the situation. Some better solution may become apparent -- Tabor is *not* great hardware.

I gather a lot of this talk is concern over lack of releases to the public as a whole, and not a question about whether having betas released to testers constitutes a public release. heh.
2007-2009
Everything done was on a "risk" basis. I'm not going to outline the gentle moves made to test how far one could go without making -that- situation more difficult.
I think the 1st question you need to have answered for yourselves is "is this a factor yet again"?
What I'm getting at here is that there is NO sense in questioning one faction or another about why there have been no public releases, until such time as you can answer the above question.
I would not expect Hyperion to detail this, but it would be helpful to any discussion if they would at least (1)admit this is the problem or (2)indicate this has nothing to do with the problem.

Hyperion's OS |
You mean the copyrighted components owned by unpaid individual developers that builds on the copyrighted Amiga OS owned by Cloanto (or probably rather "C-A Acquisition Corporation") published by Hyperion, an entity that does not really own anything at all except a very much disputed (in court) license that they obtained in a highly immoral way and that probably is about to be declared null and void, not only because of Hyperion's bankruptcy, but because Hyperion blatantly abused its clauses on many occasions

Very good and valid post. The only problem I see with it, at this time and in the current environment, is that if Hyperion do make the upgrades then Hyperion own the upgrades.
So, at least for the present work-arounds and patches and drivers are probably best developed and controlled by the people who have the most invested in a future. _________________ Tinkering with computers. |

Yes, wonderful idea, whilst the driver developers work on the drivers the rest of us application devs should sit on our arses doing nothing ...

Yes, I mean exactly that OS. However accurate your description is, the fact remains that it is currently in the hands of Hyperion. Unfortunately.

Maybe about multi core, a solution could be manage extra cpus as coprocessors and not as another cpu. I have always thought the best solution for AmigaOS could be a cell like cpu where spe are coprocessors, just like blitter and others on old Amiga hw. |
Exactly. I have my doubts something like true SMP could be achieved without breaking absolutely everything and I've always said that. That is why I like to call it "multicore" instead.
One thing is certain, we need to make use of those extra cores. They are sitting idle and that is not acceptable.Last edited by ssolie on 19-Mar-2019 at 06:44 PM.
