I suspect the answer to why they don’t support your graphics card on that X5000 machine of yours and mine may be found inside that Ryzen machine they have on display. 😉. Look a little closer and from one video I’ve seen posted, it’s about 10 years old and worth USD 10 on EBay 😉

Lots of do not touch signs on these videos I keep seeing online. I wonder what the team have to hide? Do they even have an X5000 set up there? If not then I personally feel it doesn’t bode well for us users.

I see from the programe notes the MorphOS team are not even due to speak on stage and yet other major players from the Amiga community are on the schedule for the main stage.

It’s a real shame we don’t have these types of numbers attend events on this side of the Atlantic. Enjoy guys!

@Rockstaratemyhamster

The info i have been given by Károly Balogh
@chainq is:

The system with an older Radeon HD 4650, if I'm not mistaken. First architecture support, then drivers.

If they found the time to create a new kernel.... you never know ...

Then that answers why the installed X5000 user base hasn’t got the required support for their cards.

I suspect MorphOS being heavily based on Linux suffers from issues found on other Linux based distros where Radeon SI cards are not fully supported.

MorphOS looks and plays nice, but only if you install some really out of date graphics card at the expense of everything else 😉

Yeah, its clear! Its the architecture which is a good start.

@Rockstaratemyhamster

I would be nice if my X5K could run MorphOS with the R7 250 videocard. Then again, i bought the X5K for AmigaOS and thats doing fine.

Well just wait and see regarding the PC version of MorphOS.

@Rockstaratemyhamster

MorphOS is not based on Linux drivers except my SANE scanner drivers for SCANdal and some printer drivers for my printing system (epson-printer-escpr and some CUPS related filters). Drivers for Gfx are written from scratch.

@thread

some news on the A1200 accelerator

Seems like info on various aspects of the show are coming from various sources, so we'll need some time to get more details.

I too enjoy the X5000 for running AmigaOS. Nothing else comes close IMHO, well maybe if you are the lucky one in 200 who own an X1000 😉

I see from other reports that Hyperion were in attendance showing a beta of Libre Office 5 but this was on a very old Pegasos II machine.

News always comes in from various sources, unless the person is narrow minded to accept their news stories from one source and treat it as their gospel. 😉

Why don’t you ask your MorphOS buddies, according to what I’ve seen and read online Hyperion were sat opposite the MorphOS team at Amiga 34. Come on, do you seriously need a source to describe what was in front of you?

I wonder if that lawyer dude was in attendance too? Man you guys get all the fun!

@ASiegel

Perhaps you would like to confirm that Hyperion were sat opposite you then? Assuming of course you were in attendance. I can only go off videos I’ve already seen online, unless of course they were edited or manipulated as videos can so often be.

Whilst you are at it too you can let us know if the lawyer dude, or the Frieden Twins were there also along with anyone else from Hyperion?

You have just answered yourself why supporting the particular gfx card you have is not and should not be the priority of the MorphOS team. For you it is just an afterthought, for many of us and for its developers MorphOS is the main system, and it's just fair that our needs have some priority.

Kind regards,
Andrea

MorphOS/AMD64, perfect for those outdated Intel mac minis that are no longer supported by Apple :)

Was Hyperion opposite to the MorphOS team....yes they were!

See the first few seconds of this video. (next to the MorphOS banner are the MorphOS guys, and in front of them was Timothy de Groote from Hyperion)
