| I wonder if they have already produced these 5 motherboards ?

To ensure there are no hardware surprises at least five motherboards are being manufactured to prove the updated A1222 Plus design changes. A-EON has partnered with ACube Systems s.r.l to handle this process |

| @BigD: Read carefully: I said I am in no hurry (especially I ordered already an AmigaOne X5000, too). This doesn't mean that I am happy with the Tabor-development so far or in general.

I understand and I think that comment is ridiculous given the timescales and the money that you have invested. A-EON are lucky to have customers/fanboys like you because the 'spice will flow' whether they've murdered the last sandworm of arrakis or in this case used end of life components again that might as well be mythical sandworm teeth by the time they launch the 7 years late A1222 mobo!
Let's hope the P1022 CPU bin at AmigaKit is a big one and that they aren't water/fire damaged in the next three years _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

| @BigD: Lets be honest: Even if Tabor or the X5000/40 would be available for years you wouldn't buy one of them. It's ok, but strange related to your "I will buy an AmigaOS4-system soon"-comments in all the years (and even trying to convince people to do so). So please don't talk about "ridiculous" comments.
And I am no A-EON-fanboy, I just had joy and fun in using AmigaOS4 for many years, was an AOS4-betatester and wrote for Amiga magazines. So after a break I decided to buy new hardware for AmigaOS4. Simple as that.

Whatever you think regarding my personal purchasing decisions, the beta test release of the A1222 was NOT its mainstream release and nor is the X5000/40 being in a handful of people's hand an official release. These machines will NOT be in the hands of the regular customers before their CPUs are unavailable to purchase. That is an insane state of affairs for ANY Amiga launch. Hell, that's right up there with the A600 still containing a Motorola 68000 in 1992!!! Batsh!t insane goings on in the A-EON camp!
But as long as AP is having fun in his mancave then let all the remaining Amiga companies go bankrupt with these crazy decisions and endless delays!
He's a question do you think that the 'end of life' status on the parts used in these machines is:
A) More likely B) Less likely
... to lead to someone like me buying one?
I guess as long as the hobby is fun and the seller is prepared to buy ALL the components for the lifetime the product is on the shelf up front then it's no problem?! "Keep the Party Going!"
It would be a result for the A1222 / X5000/040 machines just to launch at this point. That is not a win in the commercial space, that is just the start for most products. _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." EOL status will not make the slightest difference to someone who's already decided they won't be buying one. |

The official announcement was October 2015. Information may have been available before that date; It was so long ago that I can't remember.Last edited by bison on 25-Mar-2021 at 10:29 PM.

| @Rose: Always complaining and not buying anyway either
Let´f face it: BigD will always find a reason not to buy an AmigaOS4-system, EOL status is just the latest one.
And why complaining about the EOL status of the X5000/40-CPU instead of buying an AmigaOne X5000/20 which is available since 5 years?

Because it's unheard that people have enough experience that they know that something ain't worth of it without buying it.

Also it's not like there's a shortage of people evangelizing for products they will never buy either, so what's the big deal. _________________ This is just like television, only you can see much further. |

| @Rose: My comment wasn't in your direction.
And Tabor is what it is: A lowentry-system for AmigaOS4. I don't expect a powerhorse. It will be a little faster with one core than the latest lowentry-system (SAM460) for a better prize. If this isn't ok for you than Tabor isn't for you.

Ha ha! Like it’s ongoing availability is a sure thing? It’s not out yet, it’s mainstream availability is an unknown and life moves on. What even IS AmigaOS 4.x at this point? A tax dodge for the IP litigators Hyperion? The only USP for A-EON hardware? Please note that I didn’t say killer app as no one knows if the A1222 will have one, but it isn’t MorphOS as not supported _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." You speak like we can get one off the shelf and have a good enough reason just to run AmigaOS?! What would I run on it and what makes this better than a Vampire that is available now? Web browsing? Wings? Blender? I honestly don’t know! There’s definitely no budget left for a marketing drive! Warp 1260/4060 and ZZ9000 are ‘real’ products but it still doesn’t feel like A-EON can compete with these little cottage industry products even after 7 years because it’s been sooo slow out of the gate and all we get is smug beta testers saying how they had one for 5 years! What a mess! Last edited by BigD on 26-Mar-2021 at 07:58 PM.

| @BigD: If you don't intend to buy it anyway it isn't relevant if or when its available, isn't it?
