@alanwall, @Samurai_Crow

I was more curious about the keyfile. Wasn't it MUI that at one point stopped responding to requests for keyfiles? I don't mean to pick on them; I was just trying to remember, and I was most curious as to whether the OP was able to resolve.

@simplex

Stephan Stuntz stopped making keyfiles in 2007.

And this way we like Reaction more, I’m pretty sure tried to pay for key file once. Now I won’t try again unless I can get a conformation about other people getting one.

Reaction has always a unified look.

@NutsAboutAmiga

hi!

please let me apologize for the delay in handling your

unable to create personalized keyfiles at the moment. when i manage to
repair it, you will get one immediately.

part of he mail i got from him in 2013 when i bought one, it's in another name.. but i didnt care really

btw, cool explanation about the emulation layer ppc must go through.. no wonder pc used decade to emulate aga well

No I (the OP) wasn't able to find MUI 3.9. What is strange is that googling for it brings up some hits that indicate that it used to be on Aminet, but it's gone now. Maybe there were some copyright problems that resulted in it being taken down.

What is a bit unusual is that the https://github.com/amiga-mui/muidev site is run by Jens Maus and Thore Böckelmann, two quite well respected Amigans. I'm a bit surprised it's gone quiet.

MUI 3.9 was never on Aminet, that version of MUI was distributed on the OS4 CD and with early MorphOS releases.

You don't need 3.9, MUI 3.8 - which is on Aminet - is perfectly fine and features the very same functionality.

I would also stay clear of MUI 4/5, unless an application explicitly requires that version or greatly benefits from it. It's a resource hog.

So has the YAM repository, which is maintained by the same people and hasn't seen an update in ages. Even "well respected" developers might loose interest in this hobby. Jens and Thore wouldn't be the first.

@cgutjahr

Ahh this explains why I can't find it anywhere! And yes, I want to avoid the newer versions. Thanks for the info.

“btw, cool explanation about the emulation layer ppc must go through.. no wonder pc used decade to emulate aga well”

You learn a lot by exploring code, I learned EUAE when developed chipset.library, one of my experiments exploring how to implement chipset support for AmigaOS4.1, it kind a works, and kind of not work, part of problem is AmigaOS4.1 does not care if a programs asks for CHIP or FAST, and part of the problem is that I need to reserve chipset address space for my own use, AmigaOS4.1 does not allow that, if it did the chipset can be soft emulated with ease.

Also there is problem in AmigaOS4.1 where it will pick true color screen, if screen mode is not explicitly defined, while most program should be given fake screen mode in that case, as most Amiga systems did not have true color support, from factory.

I think this are main problems way you can’t run most 680x0 programs on AmigaOS4.1 on AmigaONE system, without EUAE.
