The Pi hardware is exclusive to emu68. |
Indeed, from the Amiga POV it doesn't provide anything special that WinUAE doesn't provide, |
You’re saying WinUAE can emulate Raspberry Pi now? From Amiga POV emu68 provide Amiga with access to all the Raspberry Pi hardware. So one can write 68k AmigaOS drivers to the USB chip, to the ethernet, to the wifi/bluetooth chip, the SD slot (already done), to eMMC, to every piece of hardware attached to the Raspberry Pi.
WinUAE doesn’t do that, and neither does Vampire or anything else :)_________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

I am not saying nothing of the sorts, it is an emulated 68k, that's about it. Pi has all that kind of hardware being presented to Amiga, but as far as Amiga goes WinUAE presents the same, 16 bit audio, RTG, ethernet... so for Amiga it's the same. I wouldn't guess this fixation with emulating arm. All that is presented on a pistorm to AmigaOS you can say the same on WinUAE, it's not that hard to understand.
Imagine in one side you have Amiga 1200 with mediator and a pci gfx card, Ethernet, on the other you have a1200 with warp 1260 which also has Ethernet and gfx card. Each have their hardware but through Hal the Amiga software couldn't care less... WinUAE doesn't have access directly to hardware afaik but as far as Amiga goes it has 24 bit gfx, 16 bit audio, ethernet, wifi, sd slot, emmc, whatever you have bought for your PC, including a super fast cpu. Exactly like vampire has but with different hardware, with different drivers, one thing you got it wrong though is that you got it backwards, at least in vampire case, vampire has AMMX and SAGA which makes their software tied to their hardware. There's nothing of the like on raspberry piz so why the hell would someone have to emulate it is beyond me _________________ Indigo 3D Lounge, my second home. The Illusion of Choice | Am*ga |

Amiga has no POV. It’s all about interfaces, and the raspberry pis provide a few given sets of possible interfaces, while WinUAE provides other, different sets of interfaces. Some interfaces overlap in functionality, but many don’t. WinUAE focus on emulation of legacy Amiga hardware (with immensely overlapping functionality), emu68 provides direct access to given set of modern hardware. Of course provided that drivers are developed etc, but that’s what “targeting” is about - when you as OS developer target certain hardware, it’s given that you’re in for some device driver development.
Does Poseidon work with WinUAE yet? Still no “pass through” of USB ports? Last edited by kolla on 02-Oct-2023 at 08:37 PM.

(Edit)
Sorry I posted my CD32 tribute in here rather than the CD32 thread! These really are all blending into one!
So back on topic: has anyone taken the plunge on a PiStorm or PiStorm32 recently? Care to share how you sourced a Pi especially if it was a CM4/RPi4 model?

Initially, it was Vampire's CoffinOS R58 to R60 modified for my PiStorm/RPi 3A/A500.
My PiStorm REV B Max II / RPi 3A+ / microSD card bundle was purchased on eBay via a Polish seller.
Atm, it's CaffeineOS R272 (AmigaOS 3.9 variant) for PiStorm/RPi 3A/A500 and PiStorm32Lite/RPI 4B/A1200.
I have multiple AmigaForver's AmigaOS 3.X, and Hyperon's AmigaOS 3.1.4/3.2.x/4.1 FE licenses.
I have paid for AmigaOS 4.1 FE PowerPC software without PowerPC Amiga hardware.
