Reminds me of the "fun" we had with some early versions of ASyncWB for OS4.

Temp fix was to delete ASyncWB or roll back to a working version.

i create this topic to have a list of the best 2023 hardware and software (Applications and Games) for Amiga.
if you want to participate, it's ok, otherwise what are you doing?

I already did it, if you had the chance to read my comments...

emu68 i not consider like software.

What you don't consider is irrelevant, since you've clearly shown a complete lack of understanding of the concepts.

So, Emu68 remains a software whatever you, that are completely ignorant on technology, could think about it.

When you write "Pistorm32 lite" or "Pistorm" is enough.

@cdimauro

I think @Seiya wants us to choose:

Best HW: Sam460ex
Best SW: Enhancer 2.x

Which aren't Amigas.

However it could be ok, since he put no constraints on the platform. Then it could be:

Best HW: Intel's RaptorLake (and MeteorLake next month, once it arrives).
Best SW: Python 3.12.

@redfox

I wonder did they back port a old version AsyncWB or did introduce bugs porting it back..
Workbench has been hacked job, for where long time, with setpatch, iprefs and asyncwb stuff. I know have talked about it before, its workbench should be replaced. There are alternatives but they kind behave strange, anyhow next desktop system should have UTF8 support.

Workbench menus are also pretty, lame that are not a layer, instead rendered into the screens bitmap.

Emu68 is an hypervisor which has the main purpose (but NOT only this) to implement a JIT 68k-to-ARM64 and run the translated blocks of code.

you have write the definition of a Virtual Machine. Emu68 cannot be the best Amiga software, because it run on ARM64.

Emu68 is a Virtual Machine that run on ARM64 connected to Amiga motherboard.

The best hardware should real hardware with real hardware components (transistors, ecc, so no emulation, no virtual machine, no FPGA). As Pitstorm and Pistormlite are connected at the socket of Amiga we could consider hardware Amiga. But emu68 being an hypervisor that run on ARM64 cannot be considered Amiga software.

@cdimauro
you should know much better than me the difference about hardware, emulation, simulation and virtual machine.

Right: everything which is connected to the Amiga is Amiga hardware.

Not Amiga. But it's software. And since you've NOT added "Amiga" as requirement, then it perfectly fits.

you said that emu68 is a Hypervisor
These are the various definitions of Hypervisdor:

https://www.vmware.com/it/topics/glossary/content/hypervisor.html
https://www.redhat.com/it/topics/virtualization/what-is-a-hypervisor
https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypervisor
https://learn.microsoft.com/it-it/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v/best-practices-analyzer/windows-hypervisor-must-be-running
https://aws.amazon.com/it/what-is/hypervisor/
https://www.nutanix.com/it/info/hypervisor
https://www.ibm.com/it-it/topics/hypervisors

"Un hypervisor un software che crea ed esegue macchine virtuali"
"A hypervisor is software that creates and runs virtual machines"

So emu68 is a Hypervisor that virtualize processor thank to ARM64 that must be connected to a motherboard to wokring, to receive electric energy and share custom chips. You really think Pistorm32 lite and Pistorm and emu68 are Amiga technology?

@Seiya

I guess you're new on forums, if you go on expecting other to parrot your view, better write on a sheet of paper and stick the post in your bedroom. If I have a software that allows me to do Amiga stuff faster on my Amiga, I don't really care what Seiya thinks what software should or should not be considered Amiga, if I place some hardware on my Amiga and it allows it to run faster, use RTG, sd card etc... I don't care if user Seiya feels right as being Hardware or not. I see a thread on AmigaWorld, I do not have to account for user's Seiya Amiga Hardware/Software definition is. I guess you're perhaps new around here

Amiga OS 3.2 isn't per se an app, but wouldn't you consider that it allows better Amiga software to exist?

It's ONE of the software that allows it.

And it does it by crippling performances. Whereas Emu68 is way better.

@cdimauro

you are very skilled at speaking between the lines, saying things that everyone understands, but when they throw it back to you, you deny them, saying that you never wrote them.
You talked about hypervisor for emu68 well knowing what the hypervisor is, but you let others say it and then deny the evidence or that we didn't understand anything.

What is the point of arguing with someone who claims to always be right and have the last word?

Speak in front of a mirror, at least then you will always be right.

Maybe because it's the case?

Which is exactly the point.

Emu68 is a hypervisor, as you can see here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/71556941

However the hypervisor capabilities aren't used for running a VM. In fact, they are used to implement the "68k environment" (e.g. JIT + translated 68k blocks + MMU configuration). On the above link you can find some details.
Quote:

I never did, and you why: because I don't need it.

In fact, if I'm wrong you can quote me and PROVE it (which means, with concrete analysis and FACTs. Not just: "hey, you're wrong!").

Care to do it? I'm here waiting you...

Why don't you go back to the kindergarden? That's the right place for people like you that, since you're unable to argue, you resort to stupid sentences like that.

I wrote that emu68 is like using WinUAE.
You said that's not true.
I replied that it is an emulator and you replied that it is a Hypervisor.
I gave you some links on what a hypervisor is, but you didn't continue the discussion. You remained vague without going further.

What do you want to argue about?

You should intervene if someone makes a mistake and explain why, but instead you remain vague, talk between the lines and don't give a definitive answer. You have always done this on all the forums and social networks where you participate. The others are wrong, but you don't give a definitive and final answer supported by official documentation.

I asked you what Pistorm + emu68 is, but you haven't given an answer yet.

Look, if you want to continue this challenge of who is right, we can continue forever.
