Hi guys.

Sorry to pester you all again, another query, another Amiga.
I have an A500+ running via one of the new PSU's and most of the time it is fine, but every disk I put in, the drive makes a strange noise, almost like a read error, but continues to load, then sometimes the heads move fast.

I have noticed formatting disks or copying disks sometimes, I get the nasty error message "You MUST replace the disk in drive DF0!" even though the disk has not been taken out of the drive. I click ok and it will carry on then maybe appear again a while later.

i notice also the drive is randomly being accessed even when there is no need to. It is like the drive is forgetting there a disk inside or 'resetting' itself somehow. Is this an issue with the drive or could it be something on the motherboard ie one of the chips?

Has anyone had this issue before?
I have tried a disk drive cleaner to no avail.

Thanks,
Spud.

@spudisgood

The drive has a couple of pins sensors in the front where the write protect tab is and that get dirty and do not move up and down like they are supposed to.

Yes, this happened to lots of drives..
