@amigakit: the forum is populating of bots which are constantly registering.

You can see them floating around. Silently, but... only right now.

Please, consider to nominate some new moderator which can actively monitor the forum and promptly take actions.

Also consider to introduce some kind of authentication for registered new users, to minimize the risk of introducing such bots.

@cdimauro

I've noticed many new "joins" since approximately March 19, 2025.

"Silent" -for now- indeed. Motive unknown.

Hard to find someone with enough free time to monitor this forum constantly.

@pavlor

I would take it, but wouldn't do it alone, it's not a matter of time though, more in the lines of minority report, so that we wouldn't hear against the bias/unbias of moderation it would have to be more than one from multiple quadrants

And you.

Two new moderators would be a great improvement. And you're quite moderated as persons/users, so I think that you could do a good job.

@amigakit, what do you think about it? It's your site and I assume that you're interested on keeping the forum alive.

As you can see, bots are continuously registering and it'll come the time when they switch from silent to active. I wouldn't reach that point and take measures before that this happens...

Ah, if I had been younger... I have at most few minutes a day (my eyes are tired after work ).

Be glad it is so, my approach to moderation is quite unorthodox: ban them all of them! And have deadly quiet forum for myself.

Bias? Who cares about bias? This is a crisis, even die-hard MorphOS/AROS/OS4/A.Inc/68kforever fan would be an improvement!

As the last remaining member of the cult of Bill McEwen, I give you my vote.

nah. You're not the last member of the cult.

It's just that the others moved on from posting here.

Never change Pavlor. We value all opinions.

It is settled then! I nominate myself and pavlor the two new unofficial moderators, with all powers an unofficial moderator may have!

It may be of interest to know that EAB is down (possible HW failures) and in recent months was being battered by bot traffic, probably LLM training cycles.

@Karlos

It’s back up & running now.

On fricopal! & Bots, I really hope something is done eventually about all those stupid posts!

@Tpod: Steve was trying to manually remove fricopal!'s posts, because the internal (CMS) tool doesn't work, but it's very hard (they were were more than a thousands).

In short, this site needs:
- new moderators to control the activity of such bots;
- an improved forum/CMS software.

There are people here that can help of both, for free. I don't understand why the owner of the site don't get this opportunity to improve the situation.

@cdimauro

Good to hear Steve at least has tried to remove some of those posts, although clearly a working tool is needed; be a bit of a nightmare if it happens again, after manually clearing the fricopal! lot.

Indeed. He was able to delete around one hundred posts, but fricopal!'s bot have written more than one thousand of them!

I fully understand if he has given up, because manually doing this work, without any tool, is crazy.

No idea, but I think that it should be small, since it's very old and is still using Stone Age web technologies.

There will be no moderators, but there will be censors. My post was deleted explaining that there are not only bots.

@Templario and that's true: there aren't only bots as new users.

We had an example with Oliver_A.

Another is probably fricopal!, which have used a bot for spamming the site, but he isn't a bot.

BTW, I don't why your post was deleted (of course).
