so now i am going to wait once again and hope they bring out a MB with @ least a AGP slot or PCI-E |
Maybe the XC will have that... But it's supposed to be a Full size ATX system (please correct me if I am wrong there).

I think it's pretty likely at this point the hardware problems have been found. Linux tends to do that one fairly quickly. I suppose the only question is if the XE onboard sound will ever work, but honestly, who cares? If sound were the only XE issue, I'd gladly buy one today if they were available.
Mr Hardware is an authorized XE repair center in the US. You'll have to call them to see if it voids the warrantee or not, but they are in the US. (Link in dealers on front page)
And just in case anyone digs this thread up later. AFAIK, the uA1-Cs have none of the SE/XE issues, and are fine out of the box. Last edited by wegster on 29-Jan-2005 at 11:21 PM.

All the talk from Eyetech so far is about a micro-ATX board. Anybody saying otherwhise is just confusing their own want/tech lust with what the specs of the XC is supposed to be according to Alan (so far). |

there should be at least one US-based dealer doing the fix by then |
As wegster said above there already is one. In fact he was probably the first dealer to offer a fix.
These fixes are definitely for hardware issues so waiting for OS4 final won't change anything.
Beta testers have surely been used to pinpoint the problems but I think the focus on the final fixes were made possible when a larger userbase could confirm or deny all problems as they were found.
You can consider yourself a part of the solution.
In the news item from Andreas (Guru Meditation), Gunne (GGS Data) mentions that more dealers are working with Eyetech to find a suitable way of dealing with the problem.
I believe this fix comes from Eyetech/Mai and the developement team but it seems that some details aren't quite finished yet. Don't think it's the fix itself (but could be) probably more like who can do the fixes, cost, etc. Mr. Hardware even mentioned in a post that the price should not go above a certain level since the price has been fixed.

| Well this is annoying, I thought I missed a few good threads and topics, but they're all years old threads. kinda annoying, but then it is fun nostalgia for few of the older users that use to be on here. Sad many have passed. _________________ AmigaNG, YouTube, LeaveReality Studio |

You could also get os4 on winuae or uae (linux) then develop directly with this. Os4 is rather fast with a good computet and doesn't cost a lot (imdon't know if it's still possible to buy os4 for uae, bought it years ago directly from cloanto). |
