Well You look like it;) My looks are no better. This was intended as a fun thread? Oops I'm still -like on the Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy -gig fun also which was yesterday. Our street numbers go on pairs and not pairs or how could I explain it better, eg: 5,7,9 are at the same street and 4,6,8, are just the opposite ones. Hope somebody finds the place, I found my home and the XE so really fun now;)

Aye, 53,55 makes sense - if there were a number 1 to 51 also. But as I said, the place only had 3 houses. And how did the number 7 get there? It was an odd number so should have been on the same side of the street as 53 and 55.
Best guess is number 7 was a lucky number and the origional owners had it changed. No idea about the 53 and 55 though.
Perhaps a relic of the British Raj. A failed new housing sceme perhaps. Whatever the reason, it was the perfect place to live if you didn't want to be found!

I lived several months on a remote island in Indonesia. It was even better: No house numbers at all and only half of the city's streets had names. There was basically no usual mail delivery there. Not a great place for hiding though, since there were only about 20 "Europeans" in that city of ~200.000 inhabitants. So whenever I was driving around with my motorbike, the children on the streets quickly spotted me, started waving and yelling "Heeelloo Misteerrrr"... The reason the streets and addresses seem all messed up is: Karma . . .
If no one knows where you are, bad Karma cannot find you . . .

In Kenya the kids yell "How are you? How are you? How are you?" to us. Constantly. All 200000 of them. Every day.
We were about 20 europeans there as well. 800000 inhabitants... _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Hehe, that sounds very familiar. These are the two questions you constantly get to hear in Indonesia:
"Dari mana?" -> translates to "Where do you come from?", but is rather used as a greeting phrase (think of an American "How are you?", where nobody expects a long-winded talk about your gallstone ).
Very similar:
"Mau ke mana?" -> translates to "Where are you going?" and is usually answered with "mau jalan-jalan" -> "Just taking a walk". A more creative answer "Makan angin" -> "Eating the wind." (means the same).
My favourite words: Cuci mulut "washing the mouth“ -> eat a dessert Kabar angin "News of the wind“ -> rumours Mata hari "Eye of the day" -> the sun /OT Last edited by hatschi on 25-May-2007 at 04:13 PM.

Funnily enough, I always give the long-winded answer. My reason is as it always is. If you didn't what to hear, why'd you bloody ask.
I hate false concern, wither it be a greeting or silence filler. I never ask people how they are unless I want to know.
I'm such a picky bugger that I even argue with adverts.
"Nothing is better than this product!"
Thanks for being honest, I'll choose nothing then. _________________ "Anyone with a modicum of reasonableness may realize that it is like comparing the ride in the world to descend the stairs to catch the milk in the house."

No luck today. My Indian friend was taking a vacation day. Perhaps I can try again next week.... if this subject lives that long.

This is the Amiga community. We can drag any subject out for overly long periods of time. Last edited by SpaceDruid on 26-May-2007 at 07:54 AM.

Well, if we need filler, how about another poll?
Does anyone else think Fairlanefastback really needs to change his login to FairlaneSportsRoof?

So true. I suddenly feel like a gathering of Ents from Tolkien's LOTR where it could take them 2 weeks just to say hello.

Well, as a time-traveler, you certainly would've seen the end of this thread , so please stop teasing us. (Or does it continue on until the Earth gets squished between the Sun and Jupiter in a cosmic game of marbles?)
Anyway, since we think we know where ADI is, now(*), maybe we could send them an Amigaworld.net mousemat to sign as proof, or maybe an A1 to port all that wonderful Amiga software to.
(*) Well, -I'm- convinced I'm right, I don't care what the rest of you think. _________________ Tony T.

I have to be careful when I interfere with the past (or your future) as I learned the hard way when I went back to kill my grandfather and discovered he was me!
Took some sorting out I can tell you. _________________ "Anyone with a modicum of reasonableness may realize that it is like comparing the ride in the world to descend the stairs to catch the milk in the house."
