In the meantime, I got from a betatester a new AOS4 version with several bug fixes and a lot of new features (e.g. "Eye of the Beholder"-like dungeons). Its not yet fully tested but if someone is interested .. write me a PM.

@GameOn

When I did translate into French ToT (about 3 years ago) I played it a bit, but I found that it is in fact too much time consuming game that needs a regular bunch of spare time if you want to progress. I currently don't have that It's a pity because ToT seems to be a great online game despite being available in english it is still mostly supported in German...
However I can do some random tests under OS4 if you wish my configuration is A1XE G4@800, 512 MB, Radeon 9200 SE 128MB, Soundblaster Live 5.1. You can contact me by email if you wish, just look at me profile.
i can also update my French translation as I imagine a lot of things changed since the last one, I just need the latest catalog description (I still have the localization environment installed)

I will download it tonight and try it out. I can't say that I will be able to dedicate much time to playing though.

Not getting anywhere with this.
Keep getting an error message to say no emails received from TOT.
But when I download my email, I find there had been emails from them on the server.

@TiredofLife

Did you read the thread where GameOn said there was a bug in the installer that prevented it to create some drawer which are used to send/retrieve emals.

I downloaded the game last night (which took longer than expected) and I plan on installing tonight. Am I correct in my understanding that I will need to create the directories MailIn, MailOut, POP3In, and POP3Out in order to have a successful install?

I did, but this hadn't affected me as I had installed an earlier version without the bug.

I suppose I could try the latest version.

I was an Alphatester for ToT, so I thought U'd see how it's come along, I downloaded, installed, registered (both simple and using my own pop settings), created the drawers and I also get the no emails error. I know the registration has worked because the emails are sitting on the server. ToT just can't find them.

OS4 running 68k version 0.57r1 btw.

Edit: enterd the correct version number this time

@abalaban

I'm just a player of that game, so I can't send you any catalog descriptions
You have to wirte to the ToT-Team (see email). I guess, they are very interested
in a French translation.

I play the game most of the time only a few minutes a day and only, if i have enough spare time, i spend more time on it. Of course, if you wage a war, i could imagine that the game is very time consuming

@all

I tried the simple, anonymous registration. It works here without problems. Strange.
Could you try to register in this way?

As this role playing convention is over anyway, there should be a fixed version very soon.

@TiredofLife

With the latest public version V0.57R1 (and in addition create these four directories in TalesOfTamar/Data/)?

There are a lot of changes compared to V0.56, so i guess, an old version doenst't work.

Greetings,
GameOn

@GameOn

Well, I uploaded my first move so I assume everything is working ok. I am having issues when I go into a tavern and try to either load a chat room or play an online game. The game just sits there trying to connect but never seems to do anything else.

You encouraged me to try this game out. Two weeks ago I did this on my PC, not on Amiga, because of many reasons not important here. Unfortunately I could not play every single day and, what's more, I had to take some longer break in play (four days). Unfortunately my realm died. After that I found out that there are things you can do which can stop people from dying (when you are on vacation or you cannot make a turn). It is nice to know it now but I would be glad if the game could not make any moves until I get back. I would like to make turns (seasons) which I missed during another play (two weeks on vacation and when you load the game after you came back you need to make 14 turns at once). In that way it does not need so much free time which sometimes cannot be found during normal working week.

No problems here also but I tried PC version.

Yes, you don't have to play everyday (if you're not involved in a war---most probably, your enemy wouldn't stop his attacks . I didn't play for over a week in my vacations and that was fine. It wasn't a problem at all. Of course, the ideal case (for making progress) is that you can play every day (at least for a short time).

yeah, but this is not possible in a multiplayer "real time" strategy game, isn't it? The only thing you can do here is that the game can automatically do "most essential" things for you. And that's the case in ToT.

By the way, if you haven't played for 14 days, you don't have to play 14 rounds afterwards. Of course, you only play---as usual--your turn and that's it.

@all

The betaversion, I use is much more reliable with AOS4. Not a single GR I got so far. I could send it by email to anyone who's interessted (but it is some megabytes in size). I expect to see this beta version as the new public version online in a few days.

All who successful managed to register can write me private message. Then i can give you support of any kind. I really want to stop the Germans from being the dominant species on Tamar

Thanks,
GameOn.

good news! The ToT-team has now completely recovered from that roleplaying convention and finally put the new version online!

R7-Update for v0.57
url: http://www.tamar.net/bin/ToT_Amiga_V0.57_R7.lha
size: 8.761.691 Bytes

complete archive
url: http://www.tamar.net/bin/ToT_Amiga_V0.57_P2.lha
size: 150.322.989 Bytes

So, now is the best point in time to enter the mediaeval world of Tamar! No excuses that registration doen't work should pop up anymore

(remember, a private email account with SSL/TSL encrypted pop3- and smpt-protocol is not supported by ToT. Use an email account without SSL/TSL or the simple, anonymous registration)

@moderator team

As this is the last Amiga game, I'm aware of, that is constantly enhanced and, in addition, runs on all Amiga-like operating systems (AOS3.x,WarpOS,AOS4,MorphOS,UAE) and on various hardware (from an AGA machine, like A1200, to an high-end PCI system, like AmigaOne or Pegasos) ... isn't it worth a news item?

Surely, it is

Thanks

Are there any animal players in there? Or at least animal "enemies"?
