Unfortunately, since the 25th of April is a national festivity here, tomorrow all postal offices will be closed, so I won't be able to send your package - it will ship on monday morning.

FWIW, I will *probably* buy BOH at some point, I am just too busy to play it at the moment (plus Far Cry 2 is quite good).

I also think that you can't expect everyone to drop what they are doing & buy it immediately, just because you happened to release it. If you can somehow keep people reminded of BOH once every few weeks, I bet quite a few people will think "Oh yeah, that sounded good, I had meant to buy it but didn't quite get round to, let's have a look....". I think that hoping for a slow but reliable trickle of sales is more realistic.

Being Windows compatible SHOULD also be a big help, if advertised in the right places (and I am thinking Retro sites might be the best places - general Windows gamers will think the gfx look crap, because it's not whizz bang 3D).

Finally, having BOH stocked by AmigaKit/etc would probably be a good idea. IIRC, they advertise in Amiga Future, so you might even see BOH mentioned there. In fact, a review of BOH in Amiga Future would be a really good idea.

Sure, I know there's more important/interesting things to do in life than playing weird games like BOH
... and have fun with FC2!

You are absolutely right.

Sure, that's a good strategy... which will inevitably take place, since in the next weeks I will release, one at a time, the update, the themes and then, maybe, the MacOS version (in this order).

Yes, I'm already following that path as well. Thanks for the suggestion, though - I'm thankful to anybody who offers help in any way

Before making the announcement, I contacted all the resellers I could to check whether they were interested and to see which was the best way to keep the price down for the end-user. Many kindly answered, and it turned out that the best thing to do was selling the stuff directly. However, this does not mean that interested resellers cannot buy in quantities

As regards the review, sure it would be nice, but I guess it's up to AF to decide whether to review the game or not.

Maybe morphos version can a bit help to have more buyers ? (for sure porting from os4 to morphos will be very easy).

Have you offered a free review copy to Amiga Future?

I guess that porting to MorphOS would be rather straightforward.
However, it is a no-go for now because:
* the update, the additional themes and the developer documentation come first;
* MacOS X, Linux and AROS ports come first (and, among them, only the MacOS X port has more chances to be worked on);
* I don't have a MorphOS machine, I couldn't afford to buy one and I wouldn't even have room for yet another computer;
* I don't want to give the sources to anybody;
* the potential buyers would be few.

Indeed it never crossed my mind because to me it is granted that it's up to the editors to decide what appears on their magazines and that the contrary would be just asking for free advertisement.
Of course, if people at AF are interested in reviewing BOH, they only would need to ask (Let me clarify that I'm not saying this because I'm after reverence.)

I wouldn't call giving away a copy of the game "asking for free advertisement"! Anyway, the editor can only refuse your offer, so I really don't see the harm. Most likely he would be pleased to receive the suggestion, IMHO.

@saimo

I've posted the news about the game to www.amiga.dk - hope it'll help your sales.

You should consider posting the news to some of the local Amiga sites in France, Poland,Sweden, Germany etc.

Well, I noticed that the news spread naturally over local forums, so, luckily, I do not need to

Well, noticing what I had mentioned above, I thought I could give you a progress update about it:
* update: today I added the option of sorting the missions by difficulty;
* MacOS X port: have a look here.

For Mac OS X, does it have a PPC version, or only x86?

P.S. I have a suspicion that gradual tile fading could be made fairly CPU efficient (there aren't THAT many tiles visible at once), but the algorithm might not be completely simple...

Universal binary

Sorry, for the reasons already discussed, that is not going to be part of the update.

I have a Mac Mini G4 I can test the installer on if you like. I'll drop you an email.

(Edit: My webmail is playing up a bit so I'm not 100% sure the email to you was sent, let me know here if you don't get it)
