Hi!

I have just uploaded a game to OS4depot that is never existed on Amiga before!
Jupiter Lander is arrived around the time of the 40th anniversary of Moon Landing.

If you come to yourself after this shocking news, please tell me where would be the best to
spread this killer application to the hordes of MOS, AROS, w32 and OSX users?

It will be released for all platform easily thanks to our great Hollywood!

Bye!

Pretty premitive, but very funny one :) Played for half of hour in it, and do some succefull landing :)

pluses:
- have no crashes on my peg/os4.1
- not so big size of prod for hollywood based prod ! that good.
- i like the first effect, remind me some oldshool cractros :)

minuses:
- need to show mouse cursor as default. Becouse without for first i can't skip these logos,etc, and for second it's looks a bit strange. Let's give user a choice push cursor away or not, but by default pretty logic to have mouse cursor to state "ON".
- configurable size of window-mode can be cool. Or, even, make it's just 640x480 by default. 320x200 are too small for window mode to make it playable.

Basically i am under impression, becouse it's hollywood. Befor i see only one music disk done with help of hollywood, which was somethink like 20 or 30mb of size, and looks visially very bad.

Hope you will make more funny stuff :)

Some shoots for anyone in interest:

@Lazi
Congratulations for your game; a good news in the current Amiga's game desert.
And more when it have been programmed with Hollywood.

Ok, this is not due to me, because the game -it's design, gfx, sfx- is the same as an 8 bit C64 game released in 1982. It is as primitive as the original was and my goal was exactly to create an equal look and feel for the new machines.

That is an actual cracktro from the past. It was recoded in Hollywood by Mr.X of Barracuda and I did only slight modifications on it. That one strenghtens the retro feeling :)

If you read the readme file, you will see that the cursor can be turned on/off with F5 and F6 keys. I decided to hide it by default because that was the behaviour with cracktros in the past, and the C64 was quite pointerless in that time.

As it is stated in the beforementioned readme, you can use it on fullscreen. If you create a 320x200 display mode then the display of the game will be borderless fullscreen on your monitor.

Thanks for the critics and the screenshots!

Bye!

@Templario

Thanks for your kind words!
I am sure that Hollywood is capable for far bigger and better projects than we have seen yet!
However the best aspect of Hollywood is it's current and constant development.

Please help me pointing me to some place where I can release this game to other platforms (MOS, AROS, OSX, w32)!

I know there are lots of sites for such things, but what do you prefer?

Yes, of course i can turn on/off cursors, and i can use full screen :) But having cursor deactivated by default, a bit strange (imho). Window-mode and full-screen mode it's different thinks too :) I just point that window mode for 320x200 too small to be playable (for example i, and many other ppls like play in games not in full-screen, but in window-mode), and will be cool if you can add window-mode (not full-screen one) for the 640x480 , or make it configurable (imho it will be more "user-friendly").

btw, this "cractro" are video data ? I mean you just capture it and play over the hollywood player ?

ps. have in plans release somethink else by hollywood ? As i read in readme it's the first part from "series" ?

Is that a Commodore logo that I see on Jupiter's surface. That must've been one of their secret projects. No wonder Commodore went bankrupt!

@Lazi

Nice to see someone creating games with Hollywood. It looks exactly like a C64 game (ignoring the 24-bit intro screens). Any plans to update it into something that looks more modern?

Hans

No, it is coded to calculate each frame pixel by pixel. Even the floodfill is coded to emulate the blitter operation from the original asm 68k Amiga intro.

Yes, currently I am working on a "sequel" to Jupiter Lander, with storyline, higher resolution gfx, new sound, etc.

Apart from W32, doesn't Aminet distribute for all the platforms you're targeting?

Upload it to Aminet (of course). You can define different architectures there too. Most Amiga users will find it from there.

Then, if you want, you could add news items or forum posts pointing out to Aminet to different sites. For example to www.morphzone.org and www.amiga.org etc...

Yes, I think as you Hollywood is capable of create great programs and games, only that we need a web where we can change or see other examples, routines, ideas, etc.

It's all fire up some interst to hollywood .. Did you buy to make your game , or you use some "free" version of hollywood to make jupiter game ?

ps. I found on Hollywood site, many screenshoot of cractros ported by Hollywood by Mr.X of Barracuda (melon's one, PANG!, etc), but where i can download it ?

@kas1e

Thanks for the TSOMC link! I've heard about it before, but haven't found any sign how does it progressing.

There is no free version of Hollywood.
I have it from the version 1.9 and I can tell you that it is developing very well.

If you own it, then you have the cracktros with a bunch of additional examples with full source scripts.

I think those cracktros are created from the flash implementations which you can found on the net somewhere. I hope Mr. X will create more of them for the following Hollywood releases. I'd like them very much :)
