@Rogue
Nice to hear that, now that the fight with AInc is over, and that many new possibilities are open, it makes no sense to develop for discontinued HW (at least as far as AmigaOS is concerned, others might be in a different situation).
I am hoping for better Software first (that makes better use of what we currently have through drivers and other software infrastructures) and of course, new HW would be nice too.
Then if we get both... ^__^

@thread

I have these wonders...

AmigaForever?
- Does Cloanto still have rights to sell AmigaForever with AmigaOS?
- Does Cloanto now need to pay AOS1.3 licences to AInc and 3.1 licences to Hyperion?
Amithlon (and similar possible products)?
- Is there any plan letting new emulated Amigas to be sold?
AOS3 kick files + UAE with AOS4 for backwards compatibility?
- Is AOS4 going to have UAE and 3.1kick files included, for backwards compatibility?
AOS4 for other HW platforms (x86, etc)?
- anything new related to that?
- what is Hyperion's vision of how to get more power for AOS4 users?

@KimmoK

Note again that Cloanto's rights are unaffected.

Yes, a whole number of options are opening up.

Please give us some time to actually come up with the goods.

Thanks.

"can't tell you anything about that right now."

Sounds a little bit like

Let's not hold our breath, but let's be open for a nice surprice?
(In the meanwhile we have Icaros and UAE on laptop)

@Hyperionmp

Thank you for the info.

@KimmoK

If they are working with manufacturers, maybe the result will be something more individual in looks than the Sam or Pegasos or Efika.

@BooBoo
I strongly hope that we are in for a future so beautiful where Emulated Amigas (aside from direct classic Emu under AOS4/5) will be as needed as an emulated MacOSX Snow Leopard machine (ie: totally un-neded, if you want a Mac OSX Snow Leopard machine, just buy one )

@BooBoo

FWIW, I didn't read that from your previous post... DAX probably didn't, either.

But you're right. A lot of people here actually play around with old Amiga stuff on their new machines (be it Amiga or whatever).

But just out of curiousity, how slow IS UAE on SAM/OS4.x? Are OCS games playable with full sound emulation? That's all I need, don't think I have more than 2 interesting AGA games.

@BooBoo
Ok you meant that a lot of "POTENTIAL" Hyperion customers could be found in current WinUAE users in case we get an ultra fast EUAE running on AOS4/5 machines.

@Olegil
Right now EUAE is missing JIT 68K emulation, which in return slows down things quite a lot.

With JIT, EUAE would run quite well on current HW.

There is a Bounty for this but it wasn't taken by anyone as of now (hope someone will do it soon...)

@hyperionmp

I have a Sam board, and i have OS 4.1. Now, does this new situation means that i can call my Sam, for example: Amiga 1440? Or can i start looking for a case with the Amiga logo for my sam?

@AmigaBlitter

ACube haven't got a license to brand their hardware with the Amiga logo - they are Amiga compatible, but this settlement is just related to Hyperion selling AmigaOS software!

@DAX

JIT has very little benefit for OCS games that couple tightly to the chipset, AFAIK.

So the question still stands. How slow is UAE on SAM/OS4 REALLY?

I have NO idea, since I do not have access to such a beast. I only know that I have yet to find a machine that can play OCS games properly under Linux, so I end up with WinUAE every time...

@olegil
I don't think JIT is the only problem there, so the reply also stands...

EUAE is an SDL port. if we want to understand the real possible speed we need a proper port first.

One could say, fast enough for some apps, other could say slow, but then again, a new version could come out and change everything (that is what BooBoo was asking for I presume).

@DAX

Yeah, the SDL issue is what I hinted at with my mention of UAE for Linux.

But do note that improving the graphics speed and improving the CPU speed are two WILDLY different projects when it comes to UAE.

That's why I'm not very interested in JIT, but anything that could improve the OCS gameplay is very very welcome

@Rogue

Congratulations on court settkement and OS 4.x development continuation.

Now, 3 simple question:

- When OS 4.x will be Amiga classic compatabile in terms of emulating the OCS and
AGA chipset as well as KS? Its not only gaming thing, this would make it as true Amiga succesor, as well as some older applications would be able to run, my guess still faster then 060/604 Classic

- Does Acube plan to make a EP440 sucessor? AMCC is developing new SOCC CPU`s? Is there any other company or existing PPC hardware OS 4 is planned for?

- Will it be Yellow Dog Linux for SAM?

Thats all I would like to know?
