Please no crappy thing around *nix or Nux.

Let AmigaOS far from this world.

Good to see that FF is improving nicely though.

From the a-eon.com site:

"Guru Meditation #00000008.4E454D4F"

That last part spells "NEMO" in hexadecimal converted to ASCII

Don't you think that might be a bit too easy? :P

Searching for Aeon on the web.
It has to do anything with?

http://xbmc.org/

First developed for the Microsoft Xbox in 2002, XBMC is presently the most dynamic, reliable and powerful media player available for console or HTPC. Supporting almost all video and audio formats, it allows complete control over home media collections via multiple view options, database-driven libraries and internet lookups. Also available for Linux, Mac and Windows-based HTPCs, it's now the superior choice for HD playback, supporting all SD and HD resolutions.

I love the tiny message about hidden messages

Quote:
There are no hidden messages in this site

and this interesting comment in the source:

Quote:
Amiga, AmigaOS, AmigaOne and the BoingBall image are property of Amiga inc., used under license by Hyperion Entertainment CVBA.

Is this still true? Is Hyperion still only a licensee (albeit an exclusive one)? If not, how long ago was this site produced?

And, It's already 8 hours into Jan 1, 2010 here... where's the more info?

@tiffers

If they're going by PST (either because no-one changed the default timezone on a Windows webserver or because it's Amiga Inc's timezone) there are still 8 hours to go.

Gotta hand it to Hyperion, they sure know how to get a buzz going. I can't remember the last time I got worked up over a viral website

Let's see if we can figure it out... time to put on my tinfoil hat

We have:

1. An uppercase 'X' drawn in a font that's never been used by Commodore or Amiga. The change in font is probably meant to indicate an entirely new thing, not just an evolutionary change to an existing thing. The font evokes logos used by Xerox and X-Windows, but I suspect that's just a coincidence.
2. The X is divided vertically into yellow and black sections. What's yellow and black? I bet it has meaning but I got nuthin'. Bees? BeOS?
3. Clicking on the X brings a Guru meditation that establishes a link to AmigaOS. Left clicking brings up "Om", which is obviously linked to the "guru meditation", but it's also yellow on a black background. After 10 seconds, the next page opens. Is the 10 second delay a nice round number, or is it linked to X as well? (X = roman numeral for 10)
4. The GURU meditation number is 8.4e454d4f. As has been noted, the number after the 8 maps to ascii NEMO. I'm guessing that NEMO is the internal project name, so we may be able to draw some meaning from it. What do we know about Nemo? It's a word that means "Nobody", it's also the name of a captain of a revolutionary submarine and of a little gimpy clown fish. Hopefully the symbolism doesn't apply to the latter No-one's commented on the 8... if this was on a 68K amiga it would signal a privilege violation, but it could mean anything in this context.
5. The page that opens up has a puzzle piece that shows part of a red and white checkerboard, that is most probably part of the boing ball. That's again a link to Amiga.
6. So the whole thing revolves around Amiga, the letter X (or the number 10), colors yellow and black and NEMO.

Anyone spot anything I missed?
