| I recently acquired a GoldenGate 486SLC with 4MB SIMMS on board.
I've installed everything from the Goldmine I disk into my boot partition of my A4000.
Trying to run "GG" to enable GoldenGate I got the following message:
Quote:
GoldenGate Loader reports Error : 90 Diagnosis : cannot coldboot goldengate (no busactivity) |
Any help would be much appreciated.
Here is my A4000 config: A4000 with 16MB Fast RAM, 2MB Chip RAM CyberStormPPC 604/200MHz + 060/50MHz + 128MB Fast RAM CyberVisionPPC GoldenGate 486SLC
No other card occupies my Zorro Slots. _________________

Tried it without any of the other expansions? So, an as basic Amiga 4000 as possible? Tried other Zorro slot? _________________ Back home... |

I've tried all the possible zorro slots but the same error occurs.
Also I cannot put off PPC, as I don't have another accelerator, so my A4000 will not boot. _________________

Hmmm... all jumpers on the Goldengate are as they should be set? Have you got the possibility to test the board in a different Amiga? _________________ Back home... |

GoldenGate Loader reports Error : 90 Diagnosis : cannot coldboot goldengate (no busactivity) FWIW, I don't know A4000 but, A1s won't boot if the internal/external IDE doesn't switch any Buses ON; same would apply to GG. The CPU can't go work without Bus lines to data/memory systems. Try to find A4000 Bus info here... http://www.amiga-resistance.info/bboahfaq/
So, how did you configure the bootup? It can't be auto config or is it? Last edited by Snuffy on 09-Nov-2010 at 06:48 PM. Last edited by Snuffy on 09-Nov-2010 at 06:45 PM.

Yes, I've seen that.
@ Amiga_3k
Yes, it shows up as working (also on showconfig).
@ Snuffy
I really didn't understand what you said, sorry. What do you mean by how I configured the bootup?

Do you have the manual to check jumper settings? _________________ This sig. intentionally left blank |

That's a good thing that it is showing up in ShowConfig. Then it most probably is something caused by wrong jumper-settings or some software incompatibility. In both cases I'm of no use in this story. _________________ Back home... |

| Unfortunately, the jumper settings are correct (I have the manual too).

I could be wrong, since I am relying on a memory of something from over 15 years ago, but don't you have to have a hard drive dedicated to the 486 PC on the Golden Gate card itself (check for an IDE connector on the card)? If you don't have a PC hard drive attached to the emulation card, you won't be able to "cold boot." Last edited by PhantomInterrogative on 10-Nov-2010 at 01:56 PM.

| Have you tried disabling the cpu caches?
i.e. from a shell: 1.Ram Disk:> CPU NoCache Noburst
Edit: the GG has 512KB of RAM on-board, I think. Try it with no memory in the slots.
Oh, and no, it doesn't need an HD to be attached. You could also try removing the 82077 if installed, and the 80387SX. Last edited by Spirantho on 10-Nov-2010 at 02:17 PM.

Relevant Question 1: Is GG referring to the Zorro bus, ISA bus, or a bus system on the GG card itself?
Relevant Question 2: What exactly is it trying to boot?
Relevant Question 3: From what location is it trying to boot (this may be answered from Q1 and Q2)?

Hmm.... not a bad idea. I'll try to connect a hard drive then. It must be DOS formatted, or it doesn't matter?
@Spirantho
Yes, I've tried to run GG with no caches at all, and also running GG with the FAST option. Nothing happens. I still getting the same error message.
With no memory in the slots, the card refuses to boot. It just do nothing, no error messages also. The green light on the bridgeboard does flash with a tick-sound.
I don't have a coprocessor on this card, but there is a floppy controller chip. I've plugged this out, but the same error occurs.

Spirantho pointed out that a HD is unnecessary. However, I still think it would be worth a try. I do not know if it would need to be FAT format or whether you could format it from the emulation. _________________ I sold my SAM460ex lite... waiting for money to buy a Raspberry Pi... or a Classic A1000 with Buffee... or an A1222... and OS4.3 FE update 11 |

With a HD connected via GoldenGate's IDE connection, my Amiga refuses to boot. Exactly cannot find my Amiga hard disk drive, only the floppy.
I've managed to get another disk and install everything from the beginning.
Now I get a different error message: #97, which says: MMU failure. _________________

Wrong post. I managed to connect another HD via GoldenGate's IDE connector.
Try running GG again, I can hear that the new hd spins, but after a while the same error occurs. _________________
