Huh? I'm no beta tester and I got a box, CD and printed manuals for all my systems including the X1000.

Interesting, I have just got X1000 CD in a plastic bag, and not a single manual really printed
(just b/w print of Nemo TRM and Firmware booting guide ) - for AmigaOS and no printed X1000 quickstart guide. Off course, everything was there in PDF.

The Quickstart Guide and Boxes were in the process of being reprinted, they will be sent with your next order. We did not want to hold up your entire X1000 order because of these two items.

The TRM and Firmware guides are always mono print.

Thanks for clarification that this is single (sadly mine) case, not a rule.

Could print it b/w and include it or let me know of situation at any point.

For example, Quickstart guide would save few support questions

Same goes for serials - not yet enabled for Hyperion support forum, even I did wrote to Steven who puts its back to you,I am registered at official website, but not enabled at support forum .... please some law and order

In all other aspects, my salute for patience and professionality

As the OS guy, I can't force application writers to write software.

What we have been doing is enabling 3rd party developers as much as possible. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but that is what we're trying to do. The documentation wiki is a large part of that.

The bug fix updates are also a part of this. Without some of those components, 3rd party developers could not move on to create what they want to.

There is method to the madness.

@vox

I also purchased a X1000 recently and it took a number of emails with Trevor and Steven Solie before I received my Amiga OS serial number from AmigaKit.

It appears that the process of supplying serial numbers has changed recently. You should receive your serial number from AmigaKit now. I believe serial numbers are now supplied to AmigaKit from Hyperion, and should be passed on to buyers via email.

I opened a support case with AmigaKit and was supplied the serial number.

Hope this helps.

C'mon, you know they're working their asses off, considering the amount (or rather, lack) of investment money that goes into OS4 development. Sure it would be nice if Hyperion handled it all, including proper sales and marketing, but at the present situation you just can't expect them to star in it, write the feem toon, sing the feem toon... currently it's just impossible.

As for Project Metropolis, just don't get me started :) We all know what that business is all about.

Why would they need to be "supported" by Hyperion?

If Hyperion ever releases some commercial applications / games, they're free to pick any "app store" they like, do their own, or whatever. Just like everyone else.

Full steam ahead...
http://aros-exec.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=84339#forumpost84339

I plan to offer 500 amicoins for the first 100 "new" AmigaOS and MorphOS users (means if you by MorphOS or AmigaOS you get 500Amicoins as a start).

Well at first it will be appstore client as Apple Appstore or Windows Marketplace. It shares the same server-API and infrastructure so that games and applications will be availalble to users on any OS, also Classic AmigaOS.

Thanks, I have received ser. num. via AmigaKit, registered it to Hyperion
and now I don`t know what to do to register for Hyperion support (where
I already have an account). Steven has updated it to Hyperion games but
NOT to X1000 area.

Whole mechanism is slow, and results in users left with no official support.
It should be changed in way we got serial with X1000 and upon Hyperion
registration can allow or gain auto access to X1000 area.

On behalf of centralized market place, its Amiga stores,
but A-EON plans one. Metropolis seems like dead PR.

Pascal (Phoenixkonsole) is creating one. We do need a common place for the community and not one for AmigaOS-User, one for MorphOS-User and so on. It is terrible enough how fragmented is the community is on the OS-side.

Would be nice to have a 100% game oriented store like Steam, with chat client etc.
Im sure many uses IRC, but steam is extremely userfriendly (i know ppl disagree with this)
and having amiga oriented people on the friendslist could reinforce the community feeling.

But expecting Hyperion to take on another task to manage ontop of the OS development is just asking too much.

i think solutions like steam are very much a matter of personal preference. i dont think the widest understood amiga community can afford such luxury. if someone drives such project out of his own free initiative (like pascal) then its his risk and we have to see what comes out of it. but lets make no demands on such features.

Just to clear things up Metropolis was basically going to be a new tab in the Jack AppStore, but in the end nothing much was happening at Discreet FX so it didn't going much further than the initial idea stage.

If the user base wishes to thank the developers he or she can still easily log into the AppStore and click the Donations tab and make a payment via PayPal -- very similar concept to what Metropolis would have offered anyway.
