ANT February Video now online

It's finally done, available for download from AmigaOne Productions

The video is available in Windows Media and RealMedia, as well as an audio only MP3. If there is a demand for it I'll organise an MPEG version, but bear in mind the file will be huge compared to the other formats.

@ Tigerware Productions : Batten down the hatches, another high bandwidth spike is a commin !

I would love an mpeg version.

But don't go through the trouble unless you get more requests.

Thank you, just downloaded and will watch.

Nice work A1P. After just having finished our video piece, I won't complain about anything... everything was fine. One doesn't realize what can go into doing a video peice until you try it. Of course, if you do this for a living, it's probably alot easier for you.

I did like the fact that you included the original group conversation. Alot of questions get do get asked during these meetings... I'm thinking now about what questions were asked at our meeting... I know some of your group asked some of the same things I heard being asked here.

Oh yeah, and since your OS4 didn't complete the boot, you can catch that bit on our video. Luckily, Doug had that sorted by the meeting, and we got to watch the full CD boot. I'm thinking now of other things I could have included like Directory Opus and AmiTCP which both worked nicely under OS4, oh and AmigaAMP, and I'm sure there were other things.... But it's hard to keep the video camera rolling when you want to watch what's going on as well.

@AmigaOneProductions

OS4 looks pretty fast.. when opening drawers and waiting for icons to be displayed in particular. Looks good.

Btw, it seems MPlayer doesnt handle WMA files very well... this video clip looked pretty terrible on my A1. -Edit- I viewed it on my PC, which has a soundcard, so no big deal. :)

Any reason why you picked those 2 formats & not something else, like DivX, VivX or things like that?
I don't have a WMV codec installed (nor will i ever have one ;P) And Realplayer's not getting near my computers.

Cheers

Hi,

The two formats choosen give the best compression to keep the file size down, I only have an ISDN connection, which is only marginally faster than a modem, which restricts the size I can upload in a reasonable time. When I do larger files, it usually means a trip to Tigerware Productions to use a broadband connection. When I get there next (which will be the weekend after Newcastle) I'll upload some more formats.

I have been testing out a DIVX encoder, but so far that has yet to produce a file smaller than about 400Mb, which I think is far too large, some more tweaking is required there I think.

The MPEG version is currently around 80Mb, which is still al lot larger than the RM or WM formats.

That's video compression for you, the 20 Gigabyte raw DV file looks a little better, but I have no intention of uploading that

Actually it seems my camera was a little out of focus on this occasion (My camera was the one locked on the LCD monitor) but you can still what's going on.

The best quality of any videos I do can ben seen by getting it on DVD

If you can hang on until the weekend after the Newcastle demo, I'll see what I can do, possibly some DIVX as well if I can get it to work properly

Yes, I'll be at Newcastle, I'm waiting for confirmation of when and where the Midlands demo will be, but I have every intention of being there. Are going to any of them ?

Downloaded last night via dialup.

I was too tired to reasonably decode the British accents, though, so I'll try watching again when I'm not so tired.
