| I have a micro with the latest Amiga OS update (update 2) and the latest UBoot update that works with the micro. Maybe this has been discussed before, but I haven't been able to find it. As it boots up it says it can't find a keyboard and keyboard test failed. That's because I have a USB keyboard instead of a PS/2 one. After OS4 is loaded, it detects the keyboard and mouse and it works fine. However, I'm not able to use the keyboard to enter UBoot setup or change the boot configuration. In Uboot prefs, I changed the default keyboard to USB, but that didn't help.
Is there any way to have UBoot detect the USB keyboard. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

It sounds like you've done all the right stuff. Is your keyboard plugged directly in? Does UBoot even register it when listing USB device count?
Enter this in a shell: NVGetVar stdin
Does it come back as USB as you have set? |

Its because Uboot sucks on (Micro) AmigaOne (-SE/XE), that's way the Uboot update project was started, I do not requirement changing stdin to USB, as might be that never get the keyboard to work in Uboot whit USB, this is because of lack pull down resistors on D+ D- USB signal lines, Hyperion some how fixed USB in software for AmigaOS4, but did not for Uboot. Woody Linux does not even boot whit USB enabled.

I found out that if the keyboard is plugged into one of the front USB ports, UBoot will detect it, but not the ones in the back. So it's easily solved by plugging the keyboard into one of the front ports. Could be a design problem like you said. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

I don't know how Hyperion would fix USB in software. I just tested and my back ports are still as dead as a door knob. Unless they somehow reset the USB registers and read them at boot up.
I suppose if you do a hard reset and the potts are usable after that, it would suggest they are fixed by software. But I doubt it would fix the hot plug problem.
BTW Woody Linux is so old. But you can fix it with Geri's 2.6.18 kernel. AFAIK. Last edited by Hypex on 24-Apr-2011 at 04:42 AM.

Remember, micro owners had to disable 2 of our usb ports, front or back, to install os4.1. You can go into uboot prefs to see if the back ports are turned off. I just lost my ps/2 kb & now have a new usb kb, had to re-activate my rear usb ports._________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

USB to PS/2 converters works fine, at least those I have tested with different keyboards.

My XE did, though it has regular USB A contacts, not any tiny mini USB contacts, those tend to be quite dodgy in general, due to demanding more precision in connecting anything to them.

I know there are adaptors, I read that the color mades no difference, so tried one that came with a mouse (green), didn't work. Need to find info on how to make my own, if only to see if the kb & mouse adaptors are different.
Edit: According to the wiring diagrams, the color of the usb to ps/2 adaptors are the same. So this Logitech K120 & my Amigaone kb can't be converted to ps/2 with a cheap adaptor. I was using a ps/2 kvm switch between my micro & A4000T, now I can't use the 4000 without using a seperate ps/2 kb. Last edited by sundown on 02-May-2011 at 05:08 AM.

| i have a ps2 keyboard that i have connected to the ps2 connection on my A1G4XE and hide it behind my computer. its ugly but works. That way UBoot dont have to wait and scan for the ps2 keyboard. Then in workbench my usb keyboard works. If i need to change something in uboot i just use my ps2 keyboard. |
