@all

Based on the fact that IContain started listing product 10 months ago, and the interest (albeit limited) that I've read on multiple websites:

Has anyone purchased an IContain Amiga branded product?

Maybe someone could post a review or two to help kick off the new forum.

Historical reference links for those who don't know the history:

February, 2011:
IContain announces Amiga branded TVs, cell phones and computers

February, 2011:
IContain = the REAL Amiga

April, 2011:
New Amiga Tablet, Phones, TVs!!

April, 2011:
NEW PRODUCTS FROM AMIGA and ICONTAIN

October, 2011:
New Amiga tablet

It don't look like it...

I know Amiga Users are in general mad but even I don't think they are crazy enough to buy any of that IContain junk...

Then again you never know cos some Amiga users are madder than others but I haven't bought anything from them... honest...

Wow!

Why?
What has happened?

Is there a link that proves this?

I have long suspected that the Commodore is about to buy up AmigaInc. Could it be that behind?

@linnar

Actually that store was "down" for a brief period in October, then returned.
damocles can confirm this, as he checked the link after I mentioned it.

At about the same time some of the IContain Amiga products then appeared on Alibaba, where I still see some of them listed:

No link yet, I am waiting on a (minor) statement to be published. BTW, the shop option on amiga.com isn't working.

Here's the link to the entire discussion, so you can put it into context by date. It's clear that something has been going on since May...just not exactly what.

OK!

Should be interesting to follow.

I think CUSA bought AmigaInc and terminated the licenses can be terminated.

The "shop" page on Amiga.com is "not found." They don't seem to even pretend to sell anything nowadays.

Perhaps I wasn't specific enough to indicate why this is a bit odd.
The IContain products were ON that page.

Barry confirmed iContain no longer has a license from Amiga Inc. You could always call McBill and ask him directly.

I think that falls into line with what we have seen occur in recent months.

Quote:

The initial contract was drawn up by John. I don't know John to be making a cold call. Bill (other than the quickly deleted press statement) had no involvement in this that I am aware of. Everything we've seen in print to date indicated that this was about Itec LLC recouping money for Pentti Kouri's estate (through the work of John) and not technically an Amiga Inc. (as a company) licensing deal.

I know you've read this before, but I'll quote it again from the original article on Amiganews.de, for those that did not read it:

Quote:
We were told that the licensing deal was "cut just recently by the executor of an estate",

Source: http://www.amiga-news.de/en/news/AN-2011-02-00054-EN.html

Bill is not the executor of Pentti Kouri's estate. John, however, IS.

This is really popcorn material, who is John and what is his relationship to AI and itec? AI is Bill & Vince and who else? Is AI basically about to be absorbed by C=USA?

Sorry, I was too brief again. I've posted this so many times I suppose I assume people know.

John: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/john-grzymala/10/8b2/416

He's mentioned in many of the court documents from Amiga Inc. vs Hyperion VOF as well.
Itec LLC was the first secured creditor of Amiga Inc. and consisted of Pentti Kouri and Lu Pat NG (angel investor). This is also clearly shown in the court docs.

Quote:
Question 1.12: Who is Itec and what is their relationship to Amiga, KMOS and you?

Garry: Itec has been an investor in Amiga since the purchase of the assets from Gateway. It remains an investor today. Itec is also the Senior (first place) Secured Creditor of Amiga Inc. KMOS purchased the OS asset from Itec. There is no formal relationship between the companies (KMOS and Itec). I am not involved in Itec in any way.

Source: Interview with KMOS CEO Garry Hare (25-Mar-2004)

Quote:
AI is Bill & Vince and who else?

Bill and Vince are the only 2 I am aware of, and I have no knowledge of whether Vince is still involved in any way really.

Quote:

There is currently no evidence that supports that.
The Pluritas listing of the Amiga Inc. IP/related assets for sale has had no public resolution made in print that I am aware of.

#6 thanks that clears a lot up. So AI is a business that produces absolutely nothing and yet is for sale for millions of dollars? I assume the deal with C=USA is a way to keep their trademark, since producing nothing is a good way to lose it.

@persia

The strange thing is, it would take little or no effort for them to license the Minimig or other FPGA Arcade for them to be sold by other parties complete with ROMs, Workbench and software. It would cost them nothing, have zero risk and they could rake in $10 or more per unit sold for doing nothing and bosst their name recognition in the process.

Their lack of action over the years baffles me. It is almost as if they don't want to make any money.

I have no idea what Pluritas actually offered or at what price.

Having no legal knowledge, my question would have to do with estate settlements. In other words, could the Amiga IP be conveyed to someone else before the entire Pentti Kouri estate was settled, which included many other things such as Artwork, real estate, etc. Depending on the answer, the ability to address the Amiga IP could be a long time affair. If it could be addressed separately, then perhaps not.
Any lawyers have a clue on this?
