I hopefully with be doing a website for someone who writes some Dr Who novels and chanced upon this demo in my backups today. Thought it would be good to show him

No sign of the missing file on the other disk?

The startup script wasn't bugged was it? Was it intending to trying and copy the contents of Disk 1 somewhere (such as RAM) so that it could run with only disk 2 in a floppy on a 1 drive system (rather than actually trying to execute a file)?

I have a feeling if u rename the disc it may work

@TrebleSix

Tried booting it up from the disk, it plays the intro then freezes...

The install script is looking for two files to join called "DrWho.1" and "DrWho.2"

the "DrWho.1" file is on disk 2 but the "DrWho.2" file which according to the script should be on disk one just isn't there (it's not on disk 2 either)...

@Franko

I watched Face of Evil with the kids last month. There were some "special features" on the DVD containing interviews with her and she's still smoking hot.

Personally I fancy Bonnie Langford.

I am in talks with a Dr Who novel writer about a website. I stumbled upon this demo I did on a backup drive. If someone is able to get it to work, I can show it to him.

@TrebleSix

Think I'll try installing it by hand (maybe an error in the script)...

Depends on whether you think of her as:
Photobucket
or like this:
Photobucket

Besides, anyone who can do this:
Photobucket
Deserves my full attention.

@TrebleSix

You're cruel! Poor Bonnie.
Photobucket

Photobucket

On a similar matter, am I the only one here who actually wasted money by buying a copy of Dalek Attack for the Amiga?

@TrebleSix

Here's the install file called "RunMe!" (I've highlighted the bit in bold that I'm talking about)...

; Dr Who Installer
Run NIL: DrWho1:C/PP
Echo "Dr Who Installer By The Dark Lords"
Echo "Ensure You're Not Running Powerpacker Patch"
Echo "Installing Files From Disk 1"
Copy DrWho1:DrWho.2 ""
Copy DrWho1:F#? all ""
Copy DrWho1:Intro ""
Copy DrWho1:S/DrWho.info ""
Copy DrWho1:S/DrWho ""
Copy DrWho1:ReadMe! ""
Copy DrWho1:ReadMe!.info ""
If Exists LIBS:MedPlayer.Library
Echo "Found MedPlayer Library"
Else
Echo "Copying MedPlayer Library"
Copy DrWho1:Libs/MedPlayer.Library Libs:
Endif
Copy DrWho1:Mood_Swings.OctaMED ""
Echo "Installing File From Disk 2"
Copy DrWho2:DrWho.1 ""
Echo "Joining The Two Dr Who Files"
DrWho1:c/Splice DrWho.Exe -j -m
Echo "Deleting Temporary Files"
Delete DrWho.1
Delete DrWho.2
Echo "OK Finished"

and here's a listing of the contents of disk 1...

Libs (dir)
S (dir)
L (dir)
C (dir)
Devs (dir)
fonts (dir)
Disk.info
DrWho
DrWho.info
Installer
Installer.info
intro
Mood_Swings.OctaMED
ReadMe!
ReadMe!.info
RunMe!

and a listing of the contents of disk 2...

Disk.info
DrWho.1

as you can see there is no file called "DrWho.2" !!!

also the script in S:startup-sequence called "DrWho" has this...

Intro
DrWho.exe

There is the intro file but nothing called DrWho.exe because there is no file called "DrWho.2" for the splice command to join to make the DrWho.exe file...

Yup... even I wouldn't admit to that one, I'd even say I fancied Bonnie Langford instead of admitting that...
