| As a current PageStream 2.2 user I am interested in upgrading to a version that better supports TurboPrint 7 and colours/graphics than 2.2 does. I am not convinced that PageStream 5 is the most stable and best version for the classic Amiga. Is it true that some versions of PageStream 4 are more sort after, less buggy and more productive?
Some people have said that if you buy PageStream 5 off the Grasshopper LLC website then you get PageStream 4 for free. Is this true? _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

That was the case, you'll just have to check the pagestream site.
I use the latest stable classic version on both 3.9 and 4.1, Pagestream V4.1.5.6. Works very well. I use Turboprint 7, and full color graphics.
I use BME to trace bitmaps to .dr2d format, and scale them in mydocuments.
I use Pagestream to create adverts, Flyers, Business forms, any letters I have to write, and I have a 360+ page English/Japanese Kanji dictionary I am compiling. So 4.1.5.6 is very stable, and very very usewful._________________ Peter Swallow. A1XEG3-800 [IBM 750FX PowerPC], running OS4.1FE, using ac97 onboard sound.

Thanks. I've found that version on their website. But when I click purchase the site goes to a generic purchase terms and conditions page!

Also, I assume the 'Pro' version is worth having for the TextFX addon? _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

I don't think I would ever again want to support the fraudster, but if you must...

Not really, the text effects are old and cheesy. You wouldn't want to use them in typography nowadays.

| "So 4.1.5.6 is very stable, and very very useful"
Any chance to get any info from the author: -what is he planning to do / doing to improve Amiga versions? -what can user/developer community do to assist? -is it possible to opensource amiga version to improve it?
@thread Would it be possible to specify exact enough bounty goal to try to convince the development of stable pagestream 5 release for AOS/MOS/AROS/68k? _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

The developer gets $99 a pop for a buggy Version 5 release and the fact that it is not finished and only beta quality doesn't seem to be enough incentive to get it fixed. What about a sense of pride in his work! He can't find the time/courtesy to reply to my email in response to me wanting to purchase version 4.1.5.6, so I doubt very much the author has any motivation to continue active development of this product. I know he has had personal problems with his family etc but people are willing to pay him money and he is making it very difficult for that to be achieved. I'm in half a mind to buy an out of date version second hand to avoid all this faff! Last edited by BigD on 01-Nov-2013 at 07:47 AM.

Can anyone clarify whether I'll be able to download version 4.1.5.6 if I buy Version 5 off the Pagestream.org or Pagestream.net WEBSITE?

It used to be the case a couple of years ago but now, I don't know.

Nothing on the website has been updated since 2011.01.10 so should be ok? _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

All I can say that I do have version 4.1.5.6 among my full-version downloads, and I didn't buy it - I bought PageStream 5 for PPC back then. If Deron makes it available to you as well is possible but I, of course, cannot guarantee what the author will do with new registrations. You need to hear from him.

2.2 is the most stable. If I was still using my Amiga 2.2 is all I would use. The latest I have is 4.1 or 4.2 and it has too many features I would never use.

That's good to know but although I've been using it for years and now I have a RTG/060 based system I'm finding the limitations of 2.2 with no RTG support and limited graphic filetype support. Also, photos/pictures are printed in not very high quality even when passed through TurboPrint! Is Version 3.1 a big step up in this regard?_________________ "Art challenges technology. I gave up and bought Pagestream 3 second hand. I'd of rather given money towards future development of PageStream but their customer service is non existant! If they were away for Thanksgiving there should at least have been an out of office on the email system Last edited by BigD on 05-Nov-2013 at 05:20 PM.

deron consistently disappears for months, pops back up to answer an email or two, and then disappears yet again. unless something changes i don't imagine you'll ever see significant updates for the amiga version ever again.
i would, however, very much like to be wrong on this.

Running software business from somewhere far away in South Dakota plains certainly has its specifics

I managed to find a second hand copy of Pagestream 3.0h and upgraded it to version 3.1. I'm very happy with the improved print quality over version 2.2. Also I am able to import Jpegs via the Universal Filter that I found on the internet.
Sorry Deron but if you don't answer your emails those potential $100 payments are going to be squandered as people make other arrangements _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

Deron has finally replied over a month later. It seems anyone can still access old versions of Pagestream if you buy the latest version!
I think I'll stick with version 3.1 for now. I don't think I could cope with the customer service setup or the £100 fee for the pleasure. I'd like to encourage others to support Deron however as it's great software. _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." Sheesh, this thread is 9 years old.....oh, I get it. That's only 20 minutes in Amiga years.
Anyway, what's the point in commenting on such an old thread? if they haven't found a solution in 9 years, then they haven't been looking very hard.
