In his case, yes.
But there are others who are totally new users - at least me.

In the past I only tried WinUAE with OS 1.3 - 3.9 & AROS & my other PC Operating Systems (Linux, Mac OS X and Windows). Everything on the same laptop. I didn't want to put another Computer in my flat just to be able to use OS4 or Morph OS.

Now that WinUAE is able to emulate PPC too, I ordered OS4 classic from Amigakit. I'm very curious and looking forward to try it out.
It's a pity that there's no digital distribution of OS4 (e.g. instant ISO-download after paypal payment). You have to wait 1-2 weeks for physical delivery of the DVD.

@phoenixkonsole

That's not entirely correct. With the possibility of running it in WinUAE,
I'm a returning user. So that means I'll be able to start using AmigaOS 4.x
again, after a long long hiatus.

Certainly Hyperion will sell some more licenses in the short run. Hyperion should be grateful and donate money to the two guys who are doing the work.

It will certainly not decide the fate of the platform, that is decided by the software

@Kotler
Can you do a Video of it? I would like to see the Performance before investing 100€. Can you play Hurrican with wazp3d?

see here:
http://amigax1000.blogspot.de/2012/07/game-mini-review-hurrican-106-with.html

How is 1941 Extreme Deluxe running?
If both work well you can ditch all PPC machines into a trashcan.

Thanks Looks good. But i would like to see things which Need "fluidity" like games or movies.

If those games i mentioned work good without quirky Sound it makes no sense to buy a ppc Computer anymore.

Interesting.

I would like to know how can perform on an old dual core (not core duo).

The video shows a core i7....

If it is a i7 i am even more eager to see hurrican or 1941 extreme running.
I would donate 20$ for a Video showing how they perform.

If they require 3D or compositing, then no way.

When my copy arrives, I will test some plain (or mostly) non-FPU applications (webbrowsers, AmiCygnix, emulators). Any other benchmark suggestions are welcomed.

@Metalheart

I think it could be doable even with Windows (not load Explorer at startup).

@pavlor
Hurrican needs wazp3d which uses the CPU for rendering.
1941 is 2d. Both need fast CPU so they are ideal to find out if it is a alternative(in terms of usability ) to a Sam or x1000.
Your i5 would be a good benchmark as well.

You can test warpmame ... but we know fpu is a great point for PPC machines

@phoenixkonsole

Wazp3D on OS4 uses Compositing = nice speed in some 3D accellerated 2D games (eg. Hurrican). Will be sloooow in CPU only mode.

Then good benchmark candidate.
