@cgutjahr

Updating it to clean import modern Libre of MS Office documents is too much. Amigawriter could import doc format with its last version but I have not extensively tested this feature. So perhaps supporting a older format might be possible (do not know how complicated that is to program and integrate).

Alternative is to port a modern package but there are certainly reasons why that never succeeded.

Hi I would be happy to pay about £30 Final Writer for OS4.1 and about the same again for an updated 68K version that could be easily installed on expanded 68K OS3.x Amiga.

As my main interest in a 68K version is being able to run in under a WinUAE, I would be just as happy with purchasing a second OS4.1 copy to run under emulation instead if it runs in the 128MB ram available to the classic version of OS4.1FE.

Maybe up to 30 €. I can always use Microsoft Office at work or get some simple $2 word processor for my iPad. Word processors are virtually free.

However, if FW could edit and view AmigaGuide it could be useful to many developers...

i will interrested to buy an available native OS4 Port of FW2!

i do not know how good the code is, but it will not be an easy job. i made my experience with the port of ignition to OS4.
best wishes from me for your work.

@OlafS25

I think if an updated version of Final Writer had good .rtf import and export support and built in PDF export that would cover most peoples needs to import or export documents to other platforms.

Some sort of updated printing support would also be very useful, as at the end of the day I expect that most home users, like me and the remaining Amiga users are mainly creating things like cover letters and other relativity simple documents but me do need to turn them into hard copies from time to time

I would be more than willing to pay for Final Writer to be updated and developed, ported to OS4 and bug fixes etc would be most welcome. Willing to pay for a whole new program

I would definitely would buy an updated version of Final Writer 97 for at least $50. I use it all the time. It's still my favorite word processor for composition. I tend to use Word for editing and finalizing my work afterwards by I prefer Final Writer for doing the bulk of my writing. The main things I would want added would be: 24bit color, anti-aliasing, better toolbar icons, and highlighting spelling mistakes. While an OS4 native version would be nice, I'd actually prefer the 68k version to be updated since I use it a lot in WinUAE on my laptop.

Sounds good. Support with 50€ for sure. Maybe more when updated.
Hopefully OS4, MorphOs and Aros all would be available at some point.

I would definitely ante up $50 for a fully OS 4 native port with the ability to read and write docx.

Thanks!

68k version would be my main thing.

I got AOS4 for PPC/Emulator, but as I said; the 68k would be my main intrest.

I wouldnt blink paying 30-50 euros.

OS4: £30 but must export to odt (and preferably import basic formatted text from odt).

I'd certainly go $50 for a FW that worked well (export/save as functions, e.g.). I still use the old broken one fairly frequently.

I think I paid $100 for WordPerfect. Apparently I was still able to save text files from it on my SAM460 in 2012-09, but trying that on my X1000 just now killed the program (but left OS4.1FE running).

@kilaueabart

Have you tried blacklisting it in the compatibility prefs? That forces it to run in interpreted emulation rather than petunia JIT, it can help with some programs.

Are you asking for interest because you're planning a physical media release?
I'd buy it even though i don't know how much i'd spend at the moment... FW is my preferred wp on Amiga... i'd even pay just to get rid of the horrible toolbars/icons

What's wrong with them? :) I've always thought that FW has the most stylish GUI of all Amiga WP programs. With nowadays resolutions they're nicely small and out of sight freeing almost the whole area to the actual writing. I rather take it than something horrible seen on modern programs where GUI and button elements fill the half of the screen.. brrr..

Dimensions are OK, the color scheme doesn't blend well with modern GUI (like Art Effect and others, but there you have 3d party icons).
