Does the above version support OS3.9?

| In my POW The nice Trevor or some could help a bit and include for the next OS.
Then we pay for it. Also the printer drivers and net.
The situation is quite funny as there are still potential customers around with an XE and the newest.
Just my opinion.

| @PR,
Need to find someone that can get my XE working again. Been sitting for many years. Don't think Acill works on them.

It's great that XE owners want Cinnamon Writer too but surely the XE has had it's day? You have to change the battery every time you wake it up from storage and none of the onboard logic works other than the ethernet and the CPU itself! Support A-EON if you like AmigaOS or keep using the old versions of AmigaOS. Would it be such an issue if this was only for A-EON/ACube spec machines?Last edited by BigD on 27-Sep-2017 at 08:37 AM.

| Hi all
A lot of things have been mixed in with this thread now, but just to avoid confusion on the status of Cinnamon Writer, here is a (too) short update:
- Development is progressing steadily. Feature set is frozen, and I am currently alpha testing and ironing out bugs
- I will try to have a beta ready for testing at the end of autumn, and will at that point ask people to help with the testing
- New feature highlights include textbook support, much improved image support, accurate docx compatibility and improved (but still not perfect) export to PDF capabilities
CW is still being developed for all variants of amiga to the extent of what is possible for me. CW is currently, and will continue to be fully usable on "older" amigas, like the XE. CW has a very small footprint. I was able to edit a master thesis with almost 100 pages and several images, while still being below a memory usage below 100 mb |

That is impressive XE owners rest easy (just stockpile the coin batteries )._________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

I'd love to buy an X5000, but need to sell my hobby car first. In the meantime, my XE-G4 is in use almost every day, and I haven't changed the battery in it for several years. My XE is running the latest OS - 4.1FW with updates. Onboard sound and USB works great. Where's the issue?

You rarely need to change the battery if your hardware is used often. |

I agree with Rob. Back in 2004 (I think), I investigated the problem and I found that the current taken from the coin cell varied randomly when you powered down. Sometimes it was very low and the cell would last for ever, other times it was a huge current (like >200 µA) and the cell would be exhausted in days.
I can only assume that it was something to do with the state of a clock divider somewhere - its random nature had many intermediate values, all now forgotten.

| Does anybody know what has happened to Cinnamon Writer? The program website seems to have disappeared. _________________ The Rear Window blog

Good question. But maybe we can ask Claus Desler directly. |

I emailed the author a while back about it just freezing on the X1000. He was looking into it and was going to send me some test build later on. I don't recall finding any other mails on the subject. |
