@TrevorDick

Please can you give an update?
We were informed about 4 weeks ago that we'd be able to register our interest to purchase an X5000 mainboard or system - I believe the word "imminent" was used!
I have money saved, but I don't know that I can hang on to it for much longer.

@raumfahre

Me too.

I'm sorry that this became a flame thread (as usual here on Amigaworld in these last months ) but when I opened it it seemed we were very close to the preorder performing: in the A-Eon site the page was under construction and it was possible to chose between a complete system and the only motherboard.
Now it's as two months ago, with different ad.

I also have money saved since almost an year, because X5000 was supposed to be available for customers in September 2015, but it's difficult to hold them there for all this time, with summer coming together wiht all expenses and temptantion correlated to this special time of year

@kyle

I just exchanged a message with Trevor yesterday.
Yes, he still talks to me after my blowup over Tabor.
After all, as I have always stated, Trevor is one of the good guys.
More magnanimous than me by far.

Right now his primary concern appears to be getting the Tabor port of OS4 finished.
And he hinted at a few undisclosed project that are in the works.

Stop pestering the guy. I am patiently waiting for an X5000 and have already saved ALL the funds needed for a purchase. The introduction is basically beyond his control as he relys on Hyperion for the OS.

One thing you CAN count on, if he announced it, it WILL happen.
Didn't the X1000 look like a long shot?
It got done.

He's got the right design team, he picked a good cpu, I can wait until the system is released.
After all, this may be the last PPC based system I buy, and I intend to keep it until my death.

The pre-oder page is up and collecting information but I'm waiting for Matthew to make it fully interactive.

PS despite what my strapline says I'm posting this on the latest version of Odyssey from my AmigaOne X5000

Sigh.... I wish so very much that Timberwolf was completed and maintained and that it would be our main browser. I would boot my Amiga more often if it were, and maybe just maybe I would by one of your new AmigaOne computers.

@TrevorDick

Thank you Trevor for the good news.

I have no problem in waiting for the X5000 availability, the problem is to maintain safe the money needed for it

If the preorder page is put online the problem won't exist anymore

Thanks so much for the update and good news. I hope you will soon be selling off the current stock of X5000's held at AmigaKit

Because of the value of the pound has dropped I can actually afford an AmigaOne X5000 now (I assume they want to be paid in Euro now though). The problem is that I am beginning to loose hope of ever seeing a X5000 on the market. I have actually begun to plan what I will do for the money if X5000 is never released. I was thinking of starting spending them this autumn, as I really need some stuff that I haven't purchased so I could save money to an X5000, but I might hold out until Christmas. If it is still status quo then I guess my time with AmigaNG is over (and maybe everyone else's too if they want a new Amiga).

@Niolator

The X1000 is sold out and it was targeted only to OS4 (Linux don't count)
The X5000 is also targeted at Morphos so I suppose that it will be sold out too.

@kamelit0

Selling out depends on supply AND demand.

OS4 market in that price range is allready quite saturated, demand from Linux or MorphOS won't be very high.

Supply on the other side is allmost endless, as AEON could allways make another batch considering the SoC used is still in production.

you see there are advantages of a Brexit

A-eon better hurry up though because we now have a new PM and the markets like it... the £ went back up again slightly on the announcement.....

Well, I want one for MorphOS.
There may not be as many MorphOS users interested in the X5000 as OS4 users.
We already have PowerMac G5s, and they are pretty capable systems.

As to potential OS4 customers, I think there are more than you think there are.

Unfortunately some will be holding off for Tabor.
Personally I can't see buying a system that is less capable than a high end PowerMac G4.

Except for PCIe capability, MorphOS already supports systems that have comparable processing power to the next two A-eon entries.

I am looking forward to comparing a quad core X5000 with the 2.5 GHz Quad core G5 I have on hand (although for a far comparison I am going to have to use Linux for the benchmarks).

@TrevorDick

If you wait until Britain has left the EU, users will have to pay more toll than they expected.

Maybe I should remind you about the software needed, Hyperion is based in the EU.

@iggy

I'm holding out for Tabor purely because of form factor, I like to stick one of those in Loriano Pagni's X500 cases.

I often have to move from room to room due to sun, smoking neighbores and traffic exhaust, my back is beginning to give up with my tower A1.

Sam440 is PCI only and Sam460cr needs additional cards for SATA and sound, so they are out of the question.

The incompatible FPU is unfortunate for sure but as a OS4 user performance isn't such a priority, or else I'd already bought some sort of compact Alienware pc.
I think the P1022 would be sufficient for webbrowsing, video playback, image editing and the occasional 2D SDL game.

As I've said before, I'll buy the X5000/040 (incl. multicore support a must) when it's ready and can be bought. When it will be ready, I have no idea though... But I'm atleast one buyer

Same here!
I'm happy with the X1000 but I would like more CPU power.

Looking forward to the X5000/40
