Is that the price AeonKit actually communicates to potential customers now, or are you just relaying that old info they spread on Facebook a long time ago? |

The hardware description states: "The Cyrus Plus board will also support the P5040 when it becomes commercially available in greater volume." Does that mean there is a plugin CPU that can be replaced or a trade-in option or that you would need to buy a completely new board? |
The cpu is a ball grid array. It is directly soldered to the motherboard. It doesn't have to be. Apple used bga PPC cpus, but mounted them on a carrier board. But Varisys' design appears to just mount the cpu directly to the board. So...no cpu upgrades. |

| Now that people are discussing Tabor a was thinking of reviving the thread too. I guess there is no new official information around as it is as dead silent as it has been the entire year. I don't know what I will do if it is as dead after AmiWest but if it is, it is not a good sign for the Amiga community at all.

Its very near now. Betateaters have had their boards, so stuff is going on in the background all the time. X5000 is being focused on first as that will be released first.

Correct, processors are NOT socketed. Last edited by F0L on 15-Sep-2016 at 04:20 PM. Last edited by F0L on 15-Sep-2016 at 04:18 PM.

I think that at Amiwest we'll have more hints.
I really hope X5000 will be released by the end of this year Last edited by kyle on 15-Sep-2016 at 06:15 PM.

Maybe from P3041 to P5020 then but as the former has been cancelled... Kamel |

P3041/P5020/P5040 SoCs are pin (and mostly feature) compatible, which eases motherboard design. However, you can´t change CPU like on common PC motherboards - there is no socket for it. Adding spocketable CPU would need new technology (not available = significant investment from A-Eon). Don´t even ask for price then. Current X5000 would look like cheap entry model. |

That sounds good. I really hope things are moving along fine behind the scenes and beta testers really have to bite their tongues when reading threads like this. I don't appreciate the silence though. I think it is bad for business (Hyperions/A-Eons). The only information we get is from Trevor and he doesn't reveal anything "sensitive". The lid is really on, as we say in Sweden when people keep quiet about something.

Hardware has been completed for a while now, just awaiting on software, which is out of A-EON's and AmigaKit's hands of course. I am very hopeful the end is in sight now.
In the meantime, we have been working with key resellers around the world and they will be announcing stock of the boards and open pre-ordering. Last edited by amigakit on 16-Sep-2016 at 10:57 AM.

Yes, I know that which makes me worried about the state of Hyperion as a company. As I wrote earlier one can wonder how many they got working on AmigaOS 4. They have had some time to complete it now. It must be frustrating, and bad for business, for A-Eon to have hardware and not being able to sell it. Hopefully this means we get a full compliment of drivers at release and doesn't have to experience the same problems as X1000 owners did.
