@all

Utube David Pleasance interviewed by Trevor Dickinson

Interesting potential product discussed along with how it came to be discussed...
About 34 minutes in.

Also interesting comments when the Amiga name is brought up by a show attendee.

More show and pre-show info

Argh... CD1200-inspired, RPi disc-based hardware that runs FriendOS?

I really can't imagine 400+ people expressing interest in bankrolling the development of something like this through Kickstarter.

Here's a novel idea: how about working with the Apollo team and developing an inexpensive actual Amiga product that would appeal to several million former users?

Likely because Apollo was already associated in news articles as "Amiga" or moreso "the new Amiga" and if you listen to the attendee who asked a similar question you'll clearly hear David saying "NO, Absolutely NOT!"
This is quite a common response I've heard from multiple old Amiga companies as well.

Surely this does not surprise you?

Yes it does surprise me...

I would say the same... if asked "Is FriendUp interesting to me?" I would say "No, absolutely not". It will very propably commercial fail as all the other "cool" projects popping up and vanishing then rapidly.

BTW at least for the standalone device being named as "new amiga" would help a lot to get more interest in the public. I do not know what market "FriendUP" is for but more important than names are real applications.
