I thought that so bought an Amiga 1438S Multiscan monitor.
It will do DBLPal / Multiscan productivity without flicker but still flickers on interlace modes. You need a flicker fixer to get around this and display 1024x768 HighGFX screenmodes interlaced. And probably a graphics card because AGA creaks at anything more than 8 colours and you have half your chip RAM gone.

@Jupp3

This Linux distro has a better GUI than Windows & macOS according to some people.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deepin

I tried it in a Virtual Machine and it looks pretty cool.

Yes. No great loss, to be honest. Another 2-hour interview full of let's-sees and I-don't-knows? No thanks.

@Trixie

It would be nice if it were clarified that Hyperion pulled out of the Q&A so then we'd all know where we stood. In the midst of the legal battle it's what is not said and the efforts not made with the community that speaks volumes regarding Hyperion in particular.

Hyperion had an important part to play in freeing AmigaOS from Amiga Inc's inevitable demise. However, they too have stagnated and retreated from the users in the same way that Amiga Inc did when we stopped accepting their Cool Aid!

Sour grapes...

I miss the MorphOS interview though. I mean, it's not difficult to understand if he couldn't find anyone at Hyperion willing to discuss a future.

But the topic also covers the MorphOS Team. There should be much interesting info to be gathered there, considering the developments that has been publicly shown in shows recently...

@TRIPOS

Or, do AROS?

just how close are we to a total, native replacement.
Gpx drivers, getting online, new file systems for larger disks, memeory, multi-user
Have they spokwen weith cloanto for a possible future?
Any possibility for an ARM SoC with gpx support?
People want cheap, powerful and useful hardware. AROS could do it being open, if people got serious with it.

so much to fill in.

OR maybe it's time for someone else to ask these people?
It's a lot to just pin on Steve who, is an amiga enthusiest as well.

@DiscreetFX

Wasn't Deepin accused of collecting user information for China?

I think it came out of Wuhan and is used by Huawei, also accused of applying spying techniques in hardware for China.

I'm not sure on how much of this is true however, there must be some element of truth if big companies are removing Chinese hardware and distancing themselves from these companies.

It reminds me of that saying "you can put lipstick on a pig, but underneath, it's still a pig"

I thought the great thing about MorphOS is it just keeps improving behind the scenes to minimal fanfare but will no doubt port to x86 under our noses while Cloanto and Hyperion continue their legal death dive!

I'd hazard a guess they'd have no time for an interview because they're too busy coding. What's Hyperion's excuse? They're probably upto their heads in IP Law books trying to find legal precedents in order to take ALL AmigaOS trademarks and IP for themselves!

MorphOS team is not more communicative than Hyperion or Cloanto even without lawsuits

I wouldn't even know how to contact them, they seemed to me like a secret club of people working undercover. There might be some who are more open, but would not answer if someone of the group denied.

Users want to know where a system they is going, developers need to know if the support makes sense. I beliefe the MorphOs team is losing a lot of support because they are keeping silence.

Well, you can see MorphOS developers answering questions at MorphZone forum regularly, and if you want to talk in person in real time with them, go to #morphos IRC channel at Freenode and they're pretty much everyone there.

Both of the above statements are just plain false and misleading. As jpv pointed out in his reply, you just need to look in the right places to see how communicative the MorphOS Dev. Team members really are with users. Of course, they do have a long standing policy to not announce things that aren't nearly finished and ready for public release, when it comes to features they are adding to MorphOS, just in case they decide to change their minds, or direction. They don't want to break promises to the users, so this policy of not talking about new features before they are nearly ready, or completely ready for public release has worked well for them. I doubt that the MorphOS users who have been around for many years can count many MorphOS features that were announced as something the team would definitely add to MorphOS, that did not happen. I don't think that Hyperion can say the same for AmigaOS4 features (I'm still waiting for the features promised to be included in AmigaOS4.2, which I prepaid for with my X1000 purchase).

I'll agree that most users would prefer to have weekly, or monthly, or even quarterly updates on progress made for their OS of choice, but I also understand why the MorphOS Dev. Team, and most other development teams, keep silent, until something new is ready for release, specially because of how some people in the Amiga universe are about criticizing other people's work.

@amigadave

Nevertheless, a simple "we are still working on it" every now and then could cheer up people a bit.
Heck, even a "we are still working on it, but it might be we just give up, so don't hold your breath. We'll let you know when we throw in the towel." would create some clarity. At the end people might have that little more information they need to decide if they want to keep waiting or go seachring to greener pastures.
And it might be good for the companies involved too. If the people leaving have passade a threshold after the release of the announcement, the development teams, companies or whoever is behind, can decide to stop and save themself some unneded work; invest their time in something wich might be more rewarding to them too.

Not geared towards any "team" in particular.

Uhm, well.. I don't think there is need to gear this towards MorphOS team at least, because it's quite obvious that they're working on it constantly. They have released new versions of the OS itself as well as its SDKs regularly, actually both have been updated this year just like last year too. Some team members have also reported constantly about the development of new applications and improvements they have had to make to the OS etc. So, it's pretty clear and visible even without any official statements...

But of course if actions wouldn't speak for themselves, some status reports would help, but can't generalize this for everyone...

Wouldn't truthful updates be nice. Could Hyperion release an update?

The PPC AmigaOS user base wasn't large enough to support Hyperion after we dropped the 68k. We promised our wish list of features like SMP and 64 bit support for PPC Amiga OS 4 in financial desperation but even that didn't sell enough hardware so we had to hit up the hardware manufacturers for a loan and cook the books with our law experience to avoid involuntary bankruptcy. We found we could make some money on AmigaOS 68k if we didn't pay the developers which wiped out a good portion of our debt before Cloanto realized we only licensed AmigaOS 4 for PPC. We are laying low for now hoping that Cloanto will run out of money or interest to sue us as we use delaying tactics in the courts. If we don't have to pay Cloanto all the money we made off the 68k AmigaOS, we may be able to start promising more features for AmigaOS 4 again. Maybe we can consolidate AmigaOS 3.1.4.x 68k development and AmigaOS 4 PPC development into one unified AmigaOS 4 for both architectures using the unpaid 68k developers. More devious plans will be forthcoming. Thanks for your continued support.
