AmiJAM 2019 was a blast

AmiJAM 2019 was held on Saturday, August 10th.

The show exceeded our expectations and at one point we counted 55 people in attendance.

We had everything from the Commodore 16 to the latest AmigaOne A1222 beta machine. The C64 WiFi cartridge was news to me. Kids were playing Spencer on a huge 4K TV via the AmigaOne X5000. Everything ever produced by Amiga before they revealed their true motive (Joyboard et al) were there on display. There was even a TOMY robot with a cassette in its belly.

A special thank you goes out to Trevor Dickinson for taking the time to stop by and share some stories and news. Trevor is on his way to the A-EON DevCon and then GamesCon in Germany so you can expect updates from him in the near future.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers for helping to make AmiJAM 2019 a success!

We're going to need a bigger venue next time...

@ssolie

Wow! That's terrific to read. I do hope someone took photos for those of us unable to attend. It just makes me look forward to AmiWest this year even more. Congrats for pulling off what sounds to have been a great get-together.

I attended AmiJAM 2019. It was a great pleasure to meet Trevor Dickinson, Steven Solie, and enthusiasts from Calgary and Edmonton.

I was very happy to see a Tabor system in action, an AmigaONE X5000 in action, an Amiga A3000T tower machine, and other Classic systems.

Thanks to AMUC and all who participated.

@redfox

You mention seeing a Tabor in action.. Did Trevor have any information regarding the Tabor and if it will actually be released?

@outlawal2

I would prefer to see comments from Trevor Dickinson or Steven Solie.

I drove 6 hours that day, so I don't recall all that was said, and I don't want to add to the confusion that already exists in the Amiga forums.

This was an informal gathering of people from Calgary and Edmonton. Most of the systems were Classic systems (Commodore Amiga, Commodore 64 and other vintage Commodore stuff).

Trevor gave a very informal talk, mostly about his involvement with X1000, X5000 and A1222 Tabor. I got the impression that he would like Tabor to be available as soon as possible, but there are other people involved in the decisions.

The Tabor system was running AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Pre-Release.

It looked very similar to AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Update 1 which I have running at home on my MicroA1 system.

@redfox

Fair enough, thanks for your comments.

As for Trevor providing comments, I asked for your input for the explicit reason that we can't get any information from Trevor on this forum and I was hoping he might have divulged SOMETHING during Amijam.

Anyway thanks!

I've got an idea!

Come to AmiWest2019! Ask Trevor yourself face to face!

@SACC-dude

Actually I would love to but since Amiwest is in California and I reside in Wisconsin I am afraid that isn't going to happen. At least not this year anyway.

And I certainly hope we hear something between now and next year!

@outlawal2

I'll be bringing a Wisconsin native to AmiWest this year, so you would have someone from your neighborhood to talk with during the show.

That being said, I also would like to hear some news from anyone willing to spill the beans about what was said at the show. I think Trevor's most recent blog post has some interesting comments.

@amigadave

I truly would love to make it but I have a new job and vacation time is non existent at this point. I have talked to my wife about going literally for years but can never make it happen. Someday I hope to make it and meet Trevor and other amazing folks in the Amiga community like Paul Rezendez (Acill)

Paul does great work and is an awesome guy to work with. Hope to meet him someday.
And maybe Amigadave as well.. THAT guy has been around forever!

In my humble opinion, Trevor is a very friendly person. He was willing to talk one-on-one with everyone at the gathering. He showed me his laptop, which I think is the ALICE Laptop he talked about in his August 2019 blog. I truly believe that he is trying his best to help the Amiga community.

There have been some setbacks with Tabor, but I have now seen it with my own eyes, and I am satisfied that Tabor exists and works. Hopefully we will hear more news soon.

I do not know if sound works. I didn't ask. When I saw the machine, there were no speakers connected to the connectors on the back panel headers at the edge of the motherboard.

I've been told the next Amiga Future magazine has an article with some juicy info in it so the wait won't be too much longer.

It will be fun catching up with you at AmiWest 2019 as well. See you there!

@ssolie

I have to admit that now that you aren't working for a certain company/individual any longer, I'll feel even more comfortable just hanging out with you at this years show. Shame to admit, but my strong dislike for Hyperion's actions and inactions over the past decade, have made me reluctant to interact with you much at past shows. I would imagine that you are much relieved, and under less stress these days, but we won't talk of such things, as there is no point. No one can change the past (that I know of yet). I just hope you are back to fully enjoying your time spent on all Amiga projects and events. Glad to see that the show "North" of the border was such a success.

Following Trevor's whirlwind trips to Amijam Calgary, Brussels, and the A-EON DevCon 2019 in Cardiff, there are now some pics from Gamescom in Cologne:
